“Well?” Henry asked.

“It’s a closeness thing,” Rome said. “Almost like a family thing.”

“So what?” Jago asked.

“I’m going to keep things simple.”

“You’re way past simple,” Atlas said.

“How many times have you had sex with her?” Rome asked. “Just curious.”

“I’m not telling you that,” I said.

“More than once?” Jago asked.

I didn’t answer.

He nodded.

“More than one spot too, right? Like a bed. A shower. Couch? Floor? Counter?”

I again didn’t answer.

Jago made a fist and punched my right shoulder. “You’re a devil.”

“I’m going to fight it all off,” I said. “That’s what makes sense to me.”

“Fight it off?” Henry asked.

“Simple,” I said.

“Doesn’t seem simple,” Rome said. “Not with her living with you.”

“It’s not a forever thing,” I said. “She has a job. Back home.”

“How far away is that?” Jago smirked. “A quick ride? Long drive? A flight?”

I looked away.

“Or just enjoy the off-season,” Atlas said. “She can be your distraction.”

“She’s already more than that,” Rome said. “When that love stuff seeps in… you should know. Look what happened to you.”

“My situation was a little different,” Atlas said.

“Not even close,” I said. “You fell in love with Hazel.”

“I had a baby with her.”

“Wait,” Rome said. “Is April pregnant?”

“What? No.” I shrugged my shoulders. “I don’t think so. I mean…”

“You crazy guy,” Jago said, punching me again.

“Go back to worrying about Joe,” I said. “I shouldn’t have said a thing.”

“Why did you just say that?” Jago growled.
