Chapter Thirty-Four
APRIL
I standin my window and I watch him.
He leans against some old car. Some beat-up looking thing.
But when he leans against the car, it all changes.
The car is like some brand new car.
He folds his arms.
Even from my bedroom window I can see the muscles in his arms.
His forearms are big, rigid.
His biceps and triceps push against his t-shirt.
Andy says something - obviously stupid - because Sebby just shakes his head.
He looks around. Then up.
I have no choice but to drop down to my floor.
My butt hits hard.
I whisper, “Ouch,” to a teddy bear with crooked eyes.
I sigh.
If only there’s a way to go back in time and have Andy and I be twins.
If we had been born at the same time… this five-year thing with Sebby wouldn’t mean anything.
I know how I feel.
I know he’s going off to play hockey.
And I know for sure he’s going to become rich and famous.
He deserves it too.
I turn and slowly stand back up.
