A light blue bra hung from her pointer finger.

“Is this a joke?” she asked.

“A joke? What do you mean?”

“This bra. Is this a joke to you?”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about. Is that your bra?”

Kailey grabbed her shirt at her right shoulder and pulled it down, showing off a black laced bra.

That’s when I said the worst thing ever.

“Oh.”

A guilt-filledohat that.

“That one I can explain,” I said.

I heard the sound of a door opening.

My face sank.

Kailey backed up and turned.

I put the wineglasses down and ran from the kitchen.

“This is not what it looks like,” I said.

“He’s right!” April yelled. “This is a big mistake. I was just taking a shower. I didn’t know he was coming home. I don’t even have a bedroom here. So I had to just leave my clothes wherever.”

“April, let me handle this,” I said.

“Nothing to handle,” Kailey said. “Thanks for wasting my night.”

“Please don’t go!” April yelled. “You’re so pretty. You’re perfect for Seb. He’ll take good care of you. He’s got a great body!”

“April,” I growled.

“Shit,” April said. “I didn’t mean it like that. Not from experience. We aren’t together! We haven’t even slept together!”

“Wow,” Kailey said.

“Right? I mean we did kiss. Twice. Well, they were just quick kisses. Like he kissed me after a hockey game, right? And it caused this tension between us. So then I kissed him back. Just to break up the tension. That’s all. It wasn’t really sexual at all. I mean, it’s not like we were making out. He wasn’t feeling me up.”

“April,” I said. “What the…”
