He nods, his bottom lip trembling.
“Let’s go then. She’s waiting for you.”
Luciana instructs our driver to go, and with one last look at the van hiding Alex from me, we head for home.

The second our car pulls into Stefanos’s driveway, Blakely runs frantically from the house.
Ripping open my door, her eyes land on Zay, and she immediately bursts into tears.
“Zayden,” she cries, pulling him from my lap and into her arms.
The pair of them sob loudly, clinging to each other for dear life.
“You okay?” Luciana asks softly as I study them.
“Ask me again in a few hours when Alex is home.”
“Evie,” Blake sobs, reaching her hand out for me.
Wrapping Luciana’s jacket around me tighter so I don’t flash anyone, I climb out and find myself immediately pulled into a group hug.
“I could kill you for that stunt you pulled, Evie Moore,” she warns.
“Got results, didn’t it?” I ask cockily, pushing aside how I really feel about what I just did.
She studies me, her eyes searching deep in mine.
“Are you okay?”
“Good as new,” I lie.
She glances down at the jacket I’m wearing in question, but she doesn’t say anything.
“Later,” I promise. “Get Zay inside and look after him.”
She nods, unable to argue with that, before tucking him into her side and guiding her toward the house.
I don’t hear the car door shut, so when Luciana steps beside me and takes my hand in hers, I startle.
“Let’s get you inside,” she says softly.
Allowing her to take charge, I force my legs to move.
“Which room?” she asks once we’re upstairs.
Blake’s soft voice comes from the room Zay had been staying in, and confident that they’re okay, I release Luciana’s hand and walk toward Alex’s room.
She chuckles behind me as she follows. “Typical boy, huh?”
“Trust me, there’s nothing typical about Alex,” I say with a smile. “He’s… one of a kind.”
My eyes land on the photographs, focusing on his smile and the happiness in his eyes.
Fuck, I could really do with seeing that sparkle in real life about now.
Dropping to the edge of the bed, I wrap my arms around myself and hang my head.
