“Hux gave me the details of your flight, and I made sure I was booked on the same one— the third of August, right? Wednesday?”
“Yeah.”
“You’re economy class.”
It’s a statement, not a question. “Yeah…”
He runs his foot along my thigh. “How about we get you upgraded? Travel with me in first class, in a double suite?”
My eyes nearly fall out of my head. “First class? Jesus.”
“I always fly first class. Any idiot can be uncomfortable.”
“Yeah, I’ve seen Palin’sAround the World in Eighty Days. Wasn’t it Alan Whicker who told him that?”
“Might be. What do you think?”
I stare at him, completely taken aback. “Are you serious?”
He laughs. “Yeah.”
“But those tickets must be thousands of dollars.”
“Something like ten thousand, I think. I’m not sure.”
My jaw gapes. “Ten thousand dollars?”
“Pounds.”
I make a strangled sound. “Holy fuck.”
“Heidi, I can afford it, believe me. Let me spoil you.” His gaze is sultry, tempting.
“But it’s only days away. There’s not enough notice.”
“I’ve already checked. They have one suite free on that flight, so I’ve put a hold on it. They lower the central divider between two adjacent suites and make a double bed.” He flicks his eyebrows up. “Don’t you want to join the Mile High Club?”
“Oh my God.”
“You get leather seats. A small lounge. A private bathroom. And did I mention the double bed?”
My lips curve up. “You’d really do that for me?”
“As a thank you for coming with me this weekend. It’s the least I can do.”
Ten thousand pounds… twenty thousand New Zealand dollars. Holy shit. It’s a huge amount of money. But then he’s a billionaire. It’s a drop in the ocean for him. But that’s not really the point.
“It’s a lot of money to take from a man when we’re only having a fling,” I murmur.
He shrugs. “I’d do the same for any of my friends.”
“Really?”
“No.” His lips curve up.
He holds my gaze for a moment, and eventually I smile too. “All right,” I say softly.
“Good. I’ll go and book it now. We should get out anyway—Carrie and John will be here soon.”
