Shaking off the sentiment, I vowed, “I love you.”

I did, didn’t I?

He spun me to face him. “I love you too.”

“Just be with me, okay? I know you want to.”

“It’s too risky. What if someone hears us?”

“I’ll be quiet.”

“That doesn’t exactly do it for me.”

“Come on… it’s the thrill of it all.”

“I thought you said you had your own room.” He nodded toward the adjoining door.

“Don’t worry about that.”

“What if they—”

“I’ll let you put it anywhere.”

I could feel him grinning against my cheek.

“How about you let me persuade you?”

“Cove, I should go. I thought you had your own room.”

I pushed him onto the bed, making him chuckle.

“I do. Now stop and enjoy this.”

“Why are you being so persistent? What’s going on with my girl?”

Since I couldn’t confess the truth, I lied, “I just don’t want to wait anymore.”

Before he could tell me no, I unbuckled his belt and jeans.

“What are you doing?”

“Exactly what it looks like. If you won’t touch me, then I’m going to touch you.” I kissed along his stomach, trying to pull down his jeans.

“Beauty—”

“Shhh! I’m busy.”

I tugged at his boxers, but he hastily flipped me over onto my back. Almost instantly, I was engulfed in his familiar, husky, masculine scent. Deacon’s lips glided along the crook of my neck, and I gradually tilted my head, leaning away to allow him more access.

Meeting his eyes, I moved my hips against his dick, and he wrapped his strong arm around my waist, tugging me closer to him. Close enough to where there was nothing between us, only the friction of our heady movements.

It seemed like hours passed by, and all I wanted was to forget about Jace fucking Beckham.

Deacon gripped my ass, and I wrapped my legs around his waist, moaning into his mouth. He kissed me passionately, but my mind was still somewhere else entirely.

“Is this what you want, beauty?”

“Yes…”

He kissed his way down my neck, never taking his eyes off mine. Grinning like a fool, he pecked his lips down my chest, stomach, and inner thighs. My back arched off the bed while my hand went to the back of his neck.

“Fuck,” he rasped, beginning to lower the seam of my panties.

This was the furthest we’d ever gone, and I was suddenly nervous about what would happen. I sat up to tell him that maybe I wasn’t ready when the adjoining doorknob jiggled.

My eyes widened.

My heart dropped.

I swear I stopped breathing.

Jace shouted, “Cove, why is the door locked?”

“Who’s that?” Deacon asked, abruptly standing as he buckled his pants.

Instantly, I jumped off the bed, placing my hand over his mouth. “You need to hide,” I whispered.

“What?”

“Cove!” Jace banged on the wood. “Open the door!”

Deacon started walking toward it, but I sharply stepped in front of him.

“He’s a chaperone. You have to hide.”

“Open the fucking door!”

“Why is he talking to you like that?”

“I promise I’ll explain everything to you, but please… you have to hide.”

Deacon growled, reluctantly walking out to the balcony. I quickly shut the slider behind him, making sure to close the curtains too.

“Cove!” Jace roared.

I jumped out of my skin, hurrying to unlock the door. “What?!” I screamed, annoyed with him.

It wasn’t until Jace’s predatory glare raked down my body that I remembered I was only wearing a bra and panties. His greedy stare had me frozen in place.

So he was attracted to me?

“What is it with you and opening the door half fucking naked?”

“I… I…”

In one quick motion, he lifted off his hoodie and covered my body with it.

“Put this on. Now!”

I did as I was told, shaking off the spell I was wholeheartedly in with him.

Moving past me, he scanned the room. “Who’s in here with you?”

“Nobody.”

“You expect me to believe that when you’re dressed like you’re ready to be fucked?”

All the color drained from my face.

He didn’t falter, not that I expected him to.

“Where is he, Cove?”

I shrugged, looking away. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Don’t play this game with me, bunny. You won’t fucking win.”

“Relax, Rambo. I’m by myself.”

“Dressed like that?”

“Yeah.” I didn’t meet his eyes, grabbing my cell phone to turn off the music.

“You’re lying.”

“I’m not.”

“Then look me in the eyes when I’m talking to you.”

I didn’t. “You’re not my father. Stop acting like you are.”

“Trust me, if I were, I’d already have you over my knee and begging for mercy.”

My thighs clenched.

Of all the things to say, he has to say that?

In one stride, Jace was in my face, grabbing my chin to look at him.

“Where is he? I won’t ask you again.”

Paying close attention to my mannerisms, I blinked normally, responding, “I already told you, G.I. Joe. I’m by myself.”

“The worst fucking thing you can do is lie to me.”

“I’m—”

“Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”

He sped around the room, looking under the bed and in the closets.

“Will you stop? No one is in here!”
