Logan’s hands came around my back and I felt him unzipping my dress. Sitting up, I pulled the loose gown over my head and tossed it aside as if it wasn’t the most expensive piece of clothing I owned.

I removed my strapless bra before I resumed my back and forth motion on top of him. The sounds of our provocative moans filled the air, and I once again found myself at the edge of a climax.

“Oh God, Logan,” I panted, grinding down on him hard so I could feel the friction against my clit. “I’m right there. So, so close.”

“You’re mine,” Logan growled, ramming himself up into me. “My Angel. My wife.”

God, it was so easy to believe his words said in the heat of the moment. I closed my eyes as my orgasm hit, the intensity of it scrambling my brain. I bit my lip as I felt Logan go still beneath me, his erection jerking with his release.

It was a perfect moment, and I collapsed on top of him, exhausted. Logan’s hand went to my bare back, caressing up and down. I felt him press a kiss to my forehead, and a sleepy grin spread over my face.

But the rush of affection I felt was a problem. I’d already let myself fall too far, and I had to stop. It was just going to hurt like hell in the end. This marriage was a temporary contractual agreement, and I was going to have to walk away in just a few months. Falling for the man just because we were sleeping together would be a huge mistake.

With that in mind, I got off of him, rolling to the side and slipping under the covers. Logan laid there for a moment before getting out of the bed and tossing the condom into the trash. I let myself watch him, trying to ignore the warm happiness coursing through me, despite the lecture I’d just given myself.

The money. That was why I agreed to do this, I reminded myself. Two million dollars and some mind-blowing sex was enough.

Logan returned to the bed and slipped under the covers beside me. I turned away, curling up on my side. Logan moved himself against me, his chest pressed against my back. His arm came around my waist, resting on my stomach.

After the long, emotional day I’d had, I could feel the call of sleep about to pull me under, and I closed my eyes, relaxing in his arms. Just before I drifted off, I felt Logan’s lips on my bare shoulder and heard him whisper in the quiet darkness.

“Good night, wife.”

“I don’t like this. The wedding was so real. Doesn’t it bother you?”

I sighed as I looked into my mother’s worried eyes. “No. Why would it?” I lied to her. “Think of it as if I was a hired actor, putting on a great stage performance.”

My mother’s lips pursed. “I just don’t understand why a good-looking guy like him can’t get a girl the honest way. There must be something wrong with him.”

I couldn’t help but laugh at that. “Well, he can be a moody jerk sometimes, but I know how to handle him.”

We were sitting in my mother’s favorite Mexican restaurant together, sharing chips and queso as we talked. I hadn’t seen her much since the wedding last week, and it was important that we caught up with each other. I didn’t want her to think she was being abandoned in lieu of me having a new husband.

“That’s my girl.” Mom patted the hand I had resting on the table. “Don’t ever let a man boss you around.”

I almost pointed out that the man was, in fact, myboss, but I didn’t want to contradict her when she looked so proud of me. “That’s enough talk about Logan. Tell me about you. How’s the greeting card business?”

“The store is boring, but the job pays the bills,” she said, dipping another chip into the spicy cheese sauce. “You know what interests me though? The humane society that Jacquie gives money to is always looking for places to run an adoption event. I think the store parking lot would be good for that.”

“Jacquie who?” I asked, frowning in confusion.

She gave me an odd look. “Logan’s mother, of course.”

My jaw dropped. “Logan’smother? Are you out of your mind? She can’t ever know about the marriage being fake. You shouldn’t spend time with her.”

“Don’t be silly.” She waved her chip in the air before popping it into her mouth. “I can keep a secret.”

I wasn’t so sure about that. And this was too big and had too many repercussions should the truth slip out.

“Mom, this is important,” I insisted. “The money we’re getting, it depends on Logan inheriting his grandpa’s company. If Jacquie finds out the truth and tells Patrick, we’re screwed and so is Logan.”

“I know that,” she replied, and I could see that she was offended. “I’m not going to tell her a thing.”

I didn’t want to keep harping on her about it, so I let the subject drop and ordered a margarita.

“Can I see your ID?” the waiter asked.
