Nix raised his eyebrows.

“And I take it you said no.”

Ash rolled his eyes and smiled.

“Obviously.”

Nix licked his bottom lip. Ash tried not to watch. “I’m not sure many people say no to an offer like that from Ramon.”

“No, I imagine not, but he lied, he said he had a message from the Black Coyotes. He didn’t.”

Nix cocked his head. “How did you know, could have been legit-”

Ash smiled. “They said one of the MC members had come up with this idea for me to join up with Ramon’s group, help fund them… they said it was Shadow’s idea.”

Nix nodded. “Yeah, okay, so?”

Ash shook his head and chuckled, looking down at the floor. “Yeah. Shadow wouldn’t say that-”

“How do you know-”

“Shadow’s a cat.”

Nix blinked back, Ash watched that information process on Nix’s beautiful face. “So your MC consists of an old ex-con-”

“He’s like thirty something, so I’m not sure he would appreciate being called old-”

“A drunk dude-”

“He went to rehab and is sober now-”

“And a cat?”

Ash grinned. “Cat’s missing his back legs, he’s got a wheelchair.”

Nix’s mouth parted. “Fuck off.”

Ash knew it sounded like the fucking punchline to a joke. But no, they were his family. He was deadly serious and fucking proud of them. Proud to represent the Black Coyotes. He was taking this seriously, the first thing he’d ever taken seriously in his life, probably.

“Yep, that’s the Black Coyotes for you.”

“Sounds… like a fucking bunch of misfits and miscreants.”

Ash cocked a half-smirk onto his lips. “Oh Nix, you have no idea.”

As the celldoor locked with a final click, and the lights went dark, Nix felt his cock kick in his prison jeans. Fuck, it was a conditioned response now. He wasn’t even in his bunk yet. When it was lights out for the night, it meant playtime for him and Ash.

Nix had previously dreaded it, in his cell with Rocky, his former cellmate. Nix had half thought he wouldn't make it through to see the morning light. The nights with Ash were different. Like, polar opposites. He didn't fear for his life. Instead, in Ash’s cell, Nix had never felt more alive. He didn't dread the darkness. He embraced it. He didn't pray he'd see the sunrise. He didn't feel unsure, worried, afraid. He felt like he was in safe hands.

His cock was at an awkward angle as he stood at the side of the cell. It was pushing against the material, caught up. He yanked his pants and quickly tucked a hand inside to adjust himself.

"Starting without me?" Ash said.

Nix flicked his gaze to the man who sat on the edge of the bottom bunk. Ash’s legs were spread wide. The light was dim, Nix could make out Ash's silhouette. "No, I just had to sort myself out before climbing up-”

"Don't."

"Huh? Don't what?"
