I pinch the bridge of my nose as I become more annoyed and angrier by the second at their presence.

Tate chuckles. “He’s pinching the bridge of his nose.”

“Uh oh. Watch out. He’s going to explode.” Mase raises his eyebrows in jest.

Reed’s voice is deep and sharp, leaving no room for joking or argument.Typical fucking lawyer.“What the fuck’s the problem?”

I sigh.Is he being serious right now?I roll my head toward him, his face a mirror of indifference. Yes, he’s being serious. “I’m married.” I hold up my wedding ring that Luca insisted on me wearing despite my protests, only to be told that if I took the ring off, my cock would follow suit.

Reed’s eyes flit toward the ring, and he gives me a firm nod. “I had to break up with Lizzie.” Again, he nods. “I fucked my wife.” He nods. “I kind of like her.” His eyes bug out slightly, then he nods again, unperturbed by my troublesome mind. He’s so emotionally stumped; I think he’s past intervention of any kind.

“Least you like your wife.” Tate shrugs, drawing my attention back to him. “Mase can’t stand his.”

“Very fucking funny.” Mase elbows Tate in the stomach, earning a wince from him.

“It’s true,” he grumbles while rubbing his stomach.

“So, you fucked your wife and it was good. You like her, and that’s a problem, why?” Owen stares at me as though I’m the idiot in this.

“It was better than good.” I throw out there.

“’Cause she’s pregnant?” Tate’s eyebrows narrow in confusion as all our gaze’s swivel toward him. “What? I heard pregnancy sex was off the fucking charts.”

“Jesus. I don’t want to know where you heard that,” Reed grumbles.

“Pft. I don’t watch pregnancy porn if that’s what you think.” Tate rolls his eyes at Reed.

My ears prick up.Is that even a thing?I mean, my woman is hot as hell pregnant, but before her, I never even considered having sex with a pregnant woman.

“Just get to the point, Shaw. What’s wrong?” Reed snaps, making me flinch.

“I feel guilty. I just broke up with Lizzie and now I’m married with a kid on the way. It’s a lot,” I admit, swallowing back the anxiety creeping in.

“And he likes his wife,” Tate tacks on, earning him a glare from us all.

“Lizzie’s a venomous bitch. We know it, you know it.” Owen lifts a shoulder as though he didn’t just call my ex a bitch.

“Agreed,” Mase adds.

My shoulders tighten, preparing to defend Lizzie like I always do around them. “Shaw. Don’t try and defend her again. You know what she’s like. It’s why you spent half your so-called time together broken up.” Reed lays it out, as always, the voice of reason, even if it is abrupt. “She knew how to pull at your heartstrings and get you to put your hand in your pocket to keep her quiet.” He’s right, of course.

“It’s just everything she wanted, and I couldn’t commit.” I wince at the pity in my voice.

“Wouldn’t. Not couldn’t, and there’s a reason for that.” Owen stares at me, and for the first time since marrying Emi, I actually think he has a point. I chose not to commit for a reason, yet I took my marriage with Emi in stride.

Reed clears his throat. “Can we actually discuss the Gold fragrance contract now?” He throws his arm out toward the file I’m resting on, forcing me back into my work headspace. I gather up the documents and hand them over.

“Fuck, daddy, put your baby batter in me. Fuck me hard, big boy,” Tate’s phone blurts out as we all turn to face him and the ridiculously loud porn. Mase cranes his neck, and Owen jumps up from his chair. Reed drops his head back to stare at the ceiling while I watch on with a chuckle.

I’m feeling a hell of a lot lighter than I did earlier. Being surrounded by my friends always makes me feel alive. They’ve been the only constant in my life, and we hold each other up when we need to, even if our methods are not always the expected.

My phone buzzes across my desk, and when I catch sight of the nameLuca, I feel like every bit of happiness is sucked right out of me.

I’m in literal hell where this man is concerned.

EMI

I rearrange my clothes again.
