I scratch my head in frustration. That was a definite yes, though, right?

My feet move toward the bedroom with a newfound purpose, my wife. I smile as I take the stairs two at a time, excited at the prospect of giving her the good news.

When I open the bedroom door, I feel like the air is being sucked from my lungs. I lean against the doorframe to take her in.

Jesus, she’s gorgeous.

Emi lies with her hair splayed across the pillow, and the white camisole she’s wearing lifts above her protruding belly, making my cock jump at the thought of me putting a baby in her. My eyes travel up, over her enlarged nipples and bulging tits, to her beautiful face.

“Ours.” My voice is gruff and full of longing.

She sits up in bed to look at me, and my heart races. The atmosphere between us becomes sexual.

“What?”

“Downstairs, you said my baby. The baby is ours.” She tilts her head to the side and swallows deeply.

“I did, you’re right.” She takes a deep breath, our eyes locked. “I’m sorry.”

“Say the baby is ours.”

Her cheeks pinken. “Ours. Luca wants to keep our baby safe.”

I push off the doorframe and walk toward the bed.

“And so do I, my little Mafia princess.” I lean over the bed and place my hands on her ankles. “Let me make my outburst up to you.” I drag her down the bed, and she licks her lips.

“Let me show you how much you’re mine. You both are.”

Emi’s smile weakens my resolve and makes my heart swell.

“I’ll never let anyone hurt you, Red. Never.” I trail my hands up her legs. “Never,” I vow with certainty.

SHAW

I’ve been bubbling with excitement all day at the thought of having Emi and the baby here in my office. I check my watch again. Jesus, why does time stand still when you want it to move quicker, yet when you wish time would slow down, it rushes away from you.

My mind drifts back to last night when I held her in my arms. I peppered kisses over the top of her head, even when she was sleeping, determined to keep her safe forever. I’ve never felt such protectiveness over a woman in my entire life.

Maybe it’s because she’s pregnant with my child? I laugh at my own idiocy, it’s more than that. It has been since the first moment I saw her. A pull, a magnetized strength like no other, drawing us together.

I’m thinking this is what love is. Someone you think about constantly, care for, your emotions unraveled to the point you can’t control yourself. Devoted.

The office door opens, and my ass leaves my chair, only for it to find it again pretty damn quick when Tate walks through, looking completely disheveled.

“What the hell happened to you?”

His tie is loose, his eyes heavy, and his hair is a mess—basically, he looks like he hasn’t slept at all. He’s normally so well put together, but judging by the dark bags under his eyes, I was right, he hasn’t slept.

“Nothing.” He drops down onto the couch with spread legs, staring at the carpet.

“Did you hit someone with your car?”

His eyes snap up to mine with a glare that tells me he thinks I’m crazy. “No, dipshit, I didn’t hit someone with my car.”

I lean back in my chair and chuckle, letting him know I’m joking.
