Pulling away from Emi, I turn and walk away, following Luca and his men as he leads me out of the ballroom, down a corridor, and into what I can only assume is his office. His men stand at the door as I follow him inside.

“Close the door,” he barks, and my jaw grinds at his sniping commands.

Luca sits behind a large wooden desk and lifts his feet onto it, crossing his legs at his ankles. He withdraws a pen knife from his pocket and flicks it open, back and forth, back and forth.

I stay standing, my hands balling into fists as I try to tamper down the raging storm inside me. “Sit.” He points his knife at the chair opposite the desk.

My feet stay planted to the ground, ignoring his command. I’m done being bossed around by this prick. Mafia or no Mafia.

Luca’s jaw grinds, and his eyes sharpen before he opens his jacket, revealing a handgun. The insinuation is there. It’s in his eyes, in his movement.

I swallow past the lump lodged in my throat, and my ass finds the chair, his sinister eyes never leaving mine.

“You put on a good show out there, stronzo.” He points his knife toward the door.

I grind my teeth, seething with rage at his insult.

“I’m impressed. When I invited Ravlek here tonight, it was to make it clear to him and everyone else that Emi belongs to you now.”

My shoulders bunch tight and fury runs through my veins at his implication. Ravlek is Emi’s ex-fiancé. “You invited him here to parade her in front of him?” I shake my head with an unamused laugh before staring back at him with rage. “You’re twisted.”

“Si.” He smirks back at me and leans forward. “What is the saying?” He glances around the room before his eyes lock back on to mine in such a calculated way. I’m convinced he knows what he wanted to say all along. “Two birds, one stone?”

I breathe through my nose, desperately trying to tamper the raging inferno inside me at the way he controls each and every aspect of my life. “Meaning?”

“Meaning, you showed the world you’re in love with my sister.” He points his knife at me. “Your wife. At the same time, it showed Ravlek and everyone else that he no longer has any rights toward her.”

I seethe inside at his words. The way he talks about Emi as though she’s a possession, a pawn in his games. Our child too. I bite the inside of my cheek, stopping myself from telling him what a sick piece of shit he is while I replay his words. “You’re in love with my sister.” My heart jumps, and not for the first time, I question my feelings for Emi. But when Ravlek’s face flashes before me, my anger returns tenfold. “He looked like he wanted to kill her.”

Luca throws his head back on a twisted laugh, then settles his gaze back on me. “He’s into some twisted shit.”

Disgust roils my stomach. “Meaning?”

“Meaning, what he does with his woman, he does with his woman.” He shrugs.

This asshole was going to sell off his sister to some scumbag that would treat her like shit? I stare it him, making him chuckle at my reaction.

I’ll never understand this lifestyle, and I never want to.

“Your ex made a scene at your office.” He raises an eyebrow at me in question, and I swallow with the intensity behind it.

“She’s been dealt with.”

“Do I need to kill her?”

My eyes bulge in horror. “No, you don’t need to fucking kill her. I told you it’s been dealt with.”

“I won’t have my sister upset, stronzo. Having your ex lurking around devalues your relationship and our reputation.”

He talks with no feelings at all, making me wonder how him and Emi can possibly be related in the first place. Where she’s soft, gentle, and compliant, he’s devoid of all emotion, a powerhouse of hate and vengeance.

“She won’t be a problem,” I reiterate.

He regards me for a moment before sighing. “Very well. But the next time, she won’t be so lucky.”

I make a mental note to speak with Owen, to make sure Lizzie is not able to cause us any more issues. I refuse to have her death on my conscience. Not with my mother’s always playing in the back of my mind.

Dropping his feet, he leans forward in his chair and steeples his hands together on the desk. “Now, about STORM Enterprises.”
