“Yes,” he growls. “And I will. Another time.” He drops to his knees between my split legs and lowers us both to the bed. “But tonight, I need to comeinsideyou. Please tell me you have a condom in that nightstand.”

“I’m on the pill.” I reach for his cock and guide it to my entrance. I snake my other arm around his neck and pull his mouth toward mine. “Take me, Garrett. I’m all yours.”

Our lips crash together the same moment he barrels into my pussy in one powerful thrust. I cry out against his mouth, my hips arching up to take in his massive length. My body trembles with want—need—as he pummels me. I’ve never been one for rough sex, but with this man, it’s the thing I crave most. A raw, savage pleasure that’s already got me seeing stars. It’s all I can do to hold on and meet him thrust for powerful thrust.

It doesn’t take long for both of us to explode. We come togetherhard. It’s everything I thought it would be and more. So much more.

He remains inside me until my pussy stops convulsing. The thought of his seed planted in my depths makes me yearn for something I thought I didn’t want.A family. The yearning is so strong it nearly undoes me.

“Are you okay?” Garrett asks, gently kissing my forehead.

“More than okay.”

He locks his stormy gaze with mine. “I know when you’re lying, Aurora. Haven’t you figured that out by now?”

“I—”

The sound of his radio cuts through the blissful silence. I might not understand all the codes, but I clearly hear one of his officers requesting assistance. There’s conflict in his eyes.

“Go,” I say.

“I wouldn’t leave if I didn’t have to.”

“I know.”

He leaves me with one deep, toe-curling kiss and untrustworthy legs. “We’re not done here, Gray,” he says, zipping up his pants. “Not by a long shot.”

CHAPTER13

Garrett

The diner’s become like a second home to me this past summer. I always enjoyed Rose’s cooking, but it wasn’t until Aurora Gray moved to town that I became a frequent visitor. Walking through the doors this late Sunday morning feels different though. Gone is the frustrating longing for the irritatingly gorgeous woman prone to spilling drinks and meals in my lap.

In its place is a sense ofhome.

Last night was every bit as incredible as I expected it would be, but now that I’m off duty, I’m ready to slow things down. To spend hours exploring and pleasuring Aurora in every conceivable way.

“Uh oh,” Jade says from the other side of the nearly empty counter as I take a seat. The crowd has thinned out considerably now that the brewery event is finally over. Most tourists hit the road bright and early. “Someone looks like he’s in love.”

“Jade,” I say in warning. But the normal bite is missing from my tone. Because my sister’s just calling it like she sees it. Something she and Mom have in common, which is why they butt heads so often.

“I’m happy for you, Garrett. I think she’s a keeper.”

Warmth floods my body at the thought of a future with Aurora. Yeah, I’m a goner when it comes to this woman and I’m not even upset about it. Forever is the least amount of time I plan to spend with her.

“Holy shit, are yousmiling?” Jade reaches a hand across the counter and presses it to my forehead.

“Very funny.”

“Don’t screw it up, okay?”

“Can I get some coffee?” Though I’m eager to slip into the back and steal Aurora away now that her shift is nearly over, I need to touch base with my sister. I’m overdue for a checkup on her worthless ex. But before I can start calling in favors, I need to know where the jackass might be hiding.

Jade reaches for a coffee pot and flips over an empty mug. “I moved out, by the way.”

“What? When?”

“Last night. Got an apartment.”
