I was still unsure, and I leaned back as she came closer to me, deeper into the room, but something else in me wanted to know everything in this being’s life that had made her so bold.

So bold and so damn delicious.

She placed the tray next to me as I leaned into the wall, staring at her, a web of emotions and sensations battling inside my skull and frame.

“My name is Jenna,” she said frantically, rushed, and I detect a note of anxiety in her tone. “What is your name? Where are you from? What are you? Why are you here? I know this must all feel rather strange for you, and trust me, it is for me too ….”

She remained standing, her fists clenched together, looking at me with an expression that did not evade.

It feels a lot like looking at the core of our many suns, stunning but draining in its mystery and allure.

My throat is dry, but my mouth is awash with saliva. I swallow, attempting to form some phrasing she might understand.

“Hello” is all I can muster.

My voice is metallic and alien to my own ears, but she doesn’t respond. Her eyes move over my face, and she scowls with impatience.

“Are you not going to answer my questions?” she persists.

Her irritation is an emotion I can relate to, so this, for whatever reason, helps me to relax.

“Those are a lot of questions to answer, miss … I don’t know all the answers,” I trail off, raising my eyebrows to imply interest in her family name.

Her eyes narrow.

“Jenna is fine,” she replies. “I suppose your mind is all scrambled from everything that happened, huh?”

Jenna, as this lovely woman calls herself, asks a question that appears as one of concern, yet her tone remains suspicious. It makes sense because I, too, am suspicious of her, despite her obvious charms.

I relax my body and place my hands on my lap. I smile at her, and that makes her eyes flutter.

Finally, a chink in the armor. I will use her to get the information I need and, perhaps, even as a method of getting back home.

“Tell me, dear Jenna,” I whisper, finding myself again. “Can you tell me how I got here before we play the question game again?”

A small quiver of a smirk blooms on one side of the enchantress's mouth. It’s difficult to ignore. Those lips are so plump, so tasty looking.

“So it’s a game you want to play then?” she quips back, then places herself on the side of the bed.

Jenna settles next to me, and her scent is remarkable. Something earthly and lush, mixed with the comfort of cinnamon. It distracts me momentarily, but I don’t think she notices.

“Let’s play,” she said sternly, staring me down. “I’ll ask you one question, you answer, and you get to ask me one question, and I have to answer. Deal?”

Jenna is seemingly playful, but her expression does not betray her. She wants information as much as I do, and I cannot figure out why.

I give her a cocky grin and nod, holding out an open palm.

“Ladies first.”

She bristles at this but finds her footing quickly and easily.

“What is your name?” she said without hesitation.

“I’m Verrin,” I reply. “Now tell me, how did I get here?”

Jenna sighs, her impatience returning.

“There was a massive bolt of lightning in the village, and you showed up in a deep crater.”
