My heart settled once I knew he wasn’t angry with me. Otto sat in the chair, keeping me in his lap.

“This table has enough chairs,” I pointed out, but the guys ignored me.

“It’s more fun this way, Little Bird.”

Shrugging, I didn’t have an argument for that, so I let it go. I much preferred their laps to chairs, too. Rueben placed a plate of food in front of me with scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and fruit. Smiling, I kissed his cheek before he could move away.

“Thank you, Ruebear. It looks delicious.”

He smiled softly before returning to the stove to make the other’s plates. I loved how they all took turns waiting on each other. They were a solid unit in every way, and I felt privileged to be part of it now.

Reaching for the fork, I glanced down to find it missing. Otto tapped my thigh, and I glanced up, finding a bite of egg in front of me.

“You’re going to feed me?” I asked, smiling.

“Yep. I want to pamper you, Little Bird. Please let me.”

Opening my mouth, I let him feed me as the others gathered around and dug into their food. When my belly was full, I took the fork, wanting to return the favor. Otto laughed but opened his mouth, letting me feed him this time. Giggling when I dropped something on his chest, I moved down to lick it up with my tongue. His hands tightened on my thighs, a hardness growing beneath my butt. Oh.OH.

“Sorry,” I said, licking my lips.

“Don’t. That was hot. I just hadn’t expected it,” Otto admitted, kissing me.

I looked at the guys, their eyes all on us as they shifted in their seats. I tried to hide my smile, liking too much how I affected them.

“You enjoy that, don’t you?” Porter asked, not letting me get away with it.

“Kinda. I’ve never had men respond the way you guys do. It’s addictive and powerful.” I shrugged one shoulder, my eyes focused on the empty plate. Would they think I was weird for feeling that way?

“It’s the same for us, Little Bird,” Otto whispered into my ear. “You drive us wild with the simplest things.”

“Really?” I asked, not believing them.

“Yup,” Phoenix said, popping the p. “I’m hard as steel just from watching you eat.”

“Huh.” I sat back, no longer hiding the smile I had. I definitely needed to do some research. If I got this reaction from simple things, what kind would I get from something more seductive? The nerd in me wanted to find the scale and test my theories.

“Were you able to get one of us to accompany you?” Porter asked, breaking me away from how to integrate seduction and the scientific method.

“I haven’t checked my phone yet. I’m going for two hours tonight to learn the routine with the regular nurse. She leaves tomorrow, and that’s when I’ll be there longer. So, it might be better to wait. My stethoscope has a pin camera in it, so I can get a layout of the house and all the potential escape routes. I can get you a copy as well.”

“That would be amazing. The blueprints weren’t very forthcoming, and with the added security, getting in and out won’t be easy. Any inside knowledge would be beneficial,” Otto said, his arms wrapping around my waist and pulling me back further.

“Could I give you something to take that lets me hack into their system?” Phoenix asked, tapping his fingers on the table.

“For sure. Tonight is recon, so let me know how I can help.” The guys all nodded, lost in their thoughts about their upcoming heist. “Do you know what they have worth stealing?”

“Some valuable pieces of art and jewelry. The usual rich person stuff. But there’s a rumor he has a top-secret document with the knowledge of the side effects that would prove they’d known the risks and sold it anyway. The court could never prove without a shadow of a doubt, so the families settled when their lawyers advised it, worried they’d get nothing,” Otto explained.

“Settlement. It was peanuts compared to what they should’ve gotten,” Phoenix said, scowling.

“I’m glad you guys hate them as much as me. Not everyone understood my need for vengeance. I know Artevac wasn’t responsible for killing my parents. But it feels too similar, and I know how those families must feel. Not everyone can do what I do, so I’m doing this for them. For the little kids who lost their parents first to drugs and then to the hope they’d found a solution, only for them to take their own lives. All because a few people were greedy.”

My fists clenched, my words angry by the end.

“Now I can totally see the deadly killer. Is it wrong I find her just as hot, knowing she can kill me as I do when she looks innocent and pure?” Phoenix asked. Porter shoved him, shaking his head, but I didn’t miss how no one corrected him. My cheeks flushed.

“That’s where you’re wrong,” I said, leaning forward. “I can kill you any time—especially when I look pure and innocent.”
