“Fuck off.” I watch the woman go into the house on the corner of the street.

“Dude, isn’t that the house we are supposed to be going to?” Hypnos questions as he looks at the paper then back at the house.

Shit. “Yeah, it is. We aren’t going in. Haydes doesn’t have any kids. We can mark this as a dead end.”

It’s not a dead end. I know it isn’t. It just confirms that I’m going fucking crazy over green eyes, and that’s got to stop.

Chapter Twelve

Kronos: Age Thirty-Seven

Ayreshasbeenadamn tyrant ever since he stopped seeing Torrez. It’s a good thing though because fucking around the police is dangerous. Since the day two years ago, we gave up on trying to find Haydes. It was eating at us and to know that we could be doing so much more with our lives, like running our empire was more important.

For example, we took over the Southside of Timberland completely. Everyone that lives there pays for us to keep them under our protection. When the Zapata’s and the Bianchi’s began their feud, it got rough, causing people to flee to our territory.

One such man that has been ducking us, is Eddie from the gas station. The old man has been trying hard to not pay us, but we know he’s the most profitable person besides the bar down here. Although, we won’t be allowing him to get away with it tonight.

Ayres has been itching to use his baseball bat and since most people have been paying lately, we haven’t had enough fun. He swings his bat and growls. “Where’s our money, Eddie?”

The old man hesitates and looks toward the back of the store. I wonder why, but not enough to stop my train of thought. “Eddie, you have to the count of three to give us what is due, or I’m going to put a bullet in that old noggin of yours. Do you understand me?”

Eddie’s old voice cracks, and as he speaks, he looks right past me. His eyes bulge from his head as his pupils grow large. “Here’s your money, now get out.”

“Don’t be late again,” Hypnos tells Eddie as we leave the place. I’m thinking it might be time to torch the place, but I don’t say a word as we get out into the streets, waiting for the right time to strike our next target.

Walking down the street in this side of town isn’t the smartest idea, but who the hell is going to fuck with us? Besides, we are waiting for three people to come out of Sandy’s Bar. They owe us a lot of money and have been ducking us for quite some time.

Unfortunately for them, we will be waiting for them in Dead Man’s Alley. The men are going to want to fuck around with the woman they are with. That’s their thing. They like to get a woman drunk and have a fun time. I don’t give a damn what they like to do, but tonight, whoever gets in our way, will die.

“This better not take all fucking night,” Ayres grumbles and Hypnos laughs.

“It takes as long as it takes.”

The sound of a female’s laughter rings out, and I grin. “See, you gotta learn some patience, Ayres.”

“Fuck off. I’m going to get them.” He swings his bat, and I roll my eyes. Even if he’s a grown man, he’s still got the attitude of a bratty ass teenager.

Hypnos moves toward the opening of the alley, and I hold back. A commotion happens and we jump into action. The sound of a bat being swung and hitting bone shatters the silence of the night. My heart accelerates as we overtake their drunk asses.

There were four instead of three, but it doesn’t matter. Ayres has two of them already on the street, lying in the filthy debris. One of the men is coughing up blood. He’ll be dead within seconds. The other is dead and Ayres has gone into a rage, banging the bat off the man’s head. With each hit the man’s head bounces off the pavement.

I’ve got the women in my arms. My hand is squeezing her neck, hard, to show her I mean business as she sobs. The word no comes from her, repeatedly. I know she’s scared. Hell, I can smell it coming off her in waves.

“You should have paid, Frank,” I tell the guy Hypnos has cornered, ready to gut him.

“I’m… I’m sorry. Please, just let her go. I’ll get you the money.” His words are fueled by fear, not truth. That’s disappointing and before I can give the order to kill him, Hypnos brings his knife down and into Frank's stomach.

One thing about Hypnos, he doesn’t do anything half-assed. He brings the knife down multiple times, making sure he gets his message across. “I love you,” Frank whispers and that’s when I realize this is not some hooker, it’s his girl.

She’s blubbering by the time Frank drops to the ground. Instead of making the woman suffer, I break her neck without thought. No point in hearing her whine anymore. Throwing the woman down onto Frank, I turn to see Ayres with his cock out and he’s grunting, chasing his orgasm. Crazy mother fucker.

Looking around, I check for cameras. Out of the corner of my eye, I see someone. “Fuck. Stop her. No fucking witnesses.” Holstering my gun, I take off, and as I come around the corner, I see her turn.

Her eyes meet mine for a split second, and I lose my step. “Mother fucker,” I whisper, harshly, trying to figure out why I'm in shock. It hits me. She has those piercing green eyes. Those fucking eyes that have haunted me for ten years.

The end. For now…
