“And I got your snacks. On the list. Behave today!” I smiled at them, and they all blushed and headed out.

Squeak stopped before he followed and said, “You know…some of us could use some reciprocal education.”

“You are all way smarter than me.” I titled my head.

“I have a lover. Three of them…” He looked a the stairs, “Not even the bunny’s, so…I’m just saying. If you tell them they have a chance to meet someone this weekend, they will believe you. We fought over you. Calling you Momma, it’s a joke, but it’s not really. We all love you. You do take care of us, and they are way easier to live with now that you’re here.”

He winked as I blushed and nodded. Okay, so I needed to give them all a pep talk. Anyone would be lucky to have the guys in my house. Anyone.

Chapter Thirty-Six

Apollo

Friday

I was irritated that she was at Sophomore House this morning giving the geek squad a mini class in courtship. I did learn a few tips though I would never admit that. Dane leaned against the doorframe about as annoyed as I was, and Tituss asked questions that made her blush.

I wanted to do this alone, without them, but with the party tonight, it seemed like they were a package deal this afternoon. She had them doing a full-on Sophomore House chant, and then I snickered as a few guys realized they were probably not supposed to be here. One was a junior, and three because they were most definitely freshmen. She laughed and said, “It’s okay. You’re…all…my boys now, aren’t you?”

There were only two people here more disgusted by their agreement with that statement than me. She had a fucking army of mediocre men at her disposal and three fucking kings in her pocket. Less than a year. Less than a semester.

The natural leadership she oozed made me jealous. If I had that kind of power…well, that was the whole point of keeping my dick to myself lately. So I could figure out if I could get her to care enough about me, she would come running to my rescue, talk me down from a bad decision.

They all left the large common area taking their trash with them. Not a single chip bag or can of soda was left behind. I shook my head and said, “Damn. You…are something, Harper Harrington. No doubt about it.”

She smiled and said, “And you. I…wasn’t sure about your music strategy, but I got a B.”

Took so little to make her happy. Took a dime bag to a TA to get her that grade on the quiz. Still, it was a point for Apollo, and these two were definitely keeping score. “I told you.”

They were not buying it. They flanked their queen like generals. She said, “Everything is ready. You can see they are already setting everything up outside.”

I smiled at all three of them and said, “I passed a test today too.”

I handed her the paper I printed out. She looked at it, me, it, and said, “Um. Okay. Uh—”

“Why?” Dane cut right to it as Tituss looked at the sheet.

“Curiosity mainly. I don’t know.” I rolled my shoulder.

Tituss clenched his teeth. “You said you weren’t interested in her like that.”

“Changed my mind. You’ve done that. Not wanted her then wanted her.” I shrugged.

“I’ve always wanted her,” Tituss clarified. “Always.”

“And to have her, you have to share with him, and now me, so—”

“I don’t want you.” She looked me right in the eye when she said it, and I almost believed her.

“And they don’t want me to have you, which just makes it…better?” I smiled.

“So…what do you think is going to happen here?” Dane asked.

“She’ll say yes.” I shrugged. “She’ll say yes because I have a prep team that will have her all worked up and ready for the play.”

“I—” Dane stepped forward, and Harpy reached for him, then Tituss. Yes, my Queen. Keep your generals in check.

She said, “I definitely cannot deal with a fight tonight. Okay? So…not tonight.”
