He looked at me and said, “You really believe this can last?”

I nodded. “How can I live without you? Any one of you? You’re my life now. I…this is my family. You can’t take that away from me.”

He slid his arms around me and said, “I don’t want to.”

“You’re scared. I get it. So am I. I have way more to lose than any of you.” I kissed his cheek. “I’m only saying it once more, Apollo. I love you.”

I clenched my teeth, held my breath.

He whispered in my ear. “You are the devil.” I started to push away. “And I love you.”

Everything was in place now. My life was going to be very different. So was theirs. They were not their parents. Rip would not be forced into this life. And as the four of us grew stronger…we could change everything. Make our own rules. Hell, we already made a new company. Apollo wanted something legit. We all wanted Rip to have choices none of us ever got. Sure, it might mean explaining some things as he got older, but plenty of kids had two dads or two moms these days, so…what was a couple more in the grand scheme of it?

Our cleaning services were in every frat and sorority on the campus, and one talk with the OBDs and we had plans for an exciting expansion. Some of Apollo’s business was dirty. That was his blood family’s focus. Some of his business was on the up and up. That was this family’s focus. All of our lives were good, better when we were all together. I planned to keep it that way. Forever.
