We’re a family, and no one can change that.

TWENTY-EIGHT

TORI

TWO MONTH LATER

“Goal! For the first time in over a decade, the Runes take the championship! This is a historic day for the Runes!”

The crowd screams as the announcer confirms the win, and I’m right there with the rest, shouting as loud as I can, waving my arms in the air and doing what I can do show my support.

I’m wearing a special made jersey with all three of my guys’ last names on it, and I’m proud. I have heard a few times the rumors going around campus that the four of us are in a relationship, but we don’t care. I know none of the guys care, and I’m proud to be with all three of them.

The word was bound to get out at some point anyway, and I don’t give a damn what people think of me for it. All I care about is the fact that I’m with the three guys I consider to be the loves of my life. These are the men who saw me when no one else did, and they’re the ones who fell in love with me for me.

And that means the world to me.

They’re down with their teammates right now, all of them on the ice celebrating their win. But, I know it’s not going to be long before they’re done in the locker room and are out to celebrate with the rest of the school.

It’s quite a win for the entire university, and I know the parties are going to be going all over campus. I don’t know which ones we will go to, and I don’t care, either. The fact that I get to go with the three of them makes me not care where we head to spend our time. I just want to celebrate.

I fight my way through the crowd that’s gathered around the outside of the locker rooms. We can easily hear the guys shouting and laughing inside. They’ve gotten their trophies, and they’re getting ready to leave, a successful season behind them at last.

I know this is going to be huge for Zach, Cory, and Taylor. They’re bound to be headed for the NHL next season, and that fills me with more excitement than I can even begin to think about right now.

“Oh, hey, how’s it going?” I hear a familiar voice, and I turn with surprise.

It’s Johnny.

He touches me on the shoulder, and I smile at him. There’s something about him that’s almost shy. I can see it in the way he can’t hold my gaze, and I realize he must be dealing with the same feelings I once had for him.

“Hey, Johnny,” I say. “I didn’t know you were here.”

“Yeah,” he tells me. “I was going to ask you if you wanted to sit together, but I wasn’t sure if that would be weird, you know?”

“Why would it be weird?” I ask.

“Oh, you know, I don’t know,” he says as he runs his hand over the back of his head. “I just thought maybe it would be. I didn’t want you to feel like you had to or anything. Is that your jersey?”

He points to the jersey I’m wearing, and I laugh. Of course it’s mine. I’m the one wearing it. But, I know he’s grasping for something to say right now, so I decide to run with it and rescue him from the awkwardness he’s so obviously feeling.

“I had it custom made, what do you think?” I ask as I turn around so he can read the three names I have on the back.

“Oh, wow. I didn’t know you could do that. That’s nice,” he says. “Anyway, I’m going to get going. Are you going to any of the after-parties?”

“I’m sure,” I say. “I’m waiting for my boyfriends to come out right now, but once they do, we’re going to figure out what we’re doing tonight. Which one are you going to?”

“I don’t know yet,” he says. “But if you get bored, you should text me and let me know where you are. I’m sure I’ll be around.”

“Great,” I say. “See you around.”

“See you,” he says.

He disappears into the crowd, and I shake my head.

Zach was the one who said he thought Johnny is now crushing on me, and I argued with him at first, but now that I’ve talked to Johnny myself I can see what Zach means. It’s so ironic to me that Johnny would be the one with a crush on me now that I have been through so much with him.

But, I don’t worry about that.
