“Really?”

Hayley only smiled, her eyes glittering.

He slid his free hand into her hair, the strands silky and soft. “You’re sure there’s not a single other way you want me?”

“I guess I could think of a few more, if pressed.”

“What if we fight?”

“Then we’ll make up. Repeatedly.” She leaned in, whispering, “I can be very creative.”

“I want to prove that we’re good together. I want to make this work.” He couldn’t bear to pull back. Skimming her cheek with his lips, he reveled in the rise and fall of her chest against his, the soft fall of her breath against his neck. “It takes what, ten thousand hours to master something?”

Her eyes, sparkling honey brown in the sunlight, never left his.

“So let me try. Give me ten thousand hours to prove my love to you.”

“Harry…” A breath, a laugh, a promise. Hayley pressed it against his lips, soft and sure. “That’s a long time. We should get started as soon as possible.”

It was difficult to kiss while smiling as hard as he was, but he was up for the challenge. Now sounded good. Perfect. Spectacular.

“Whatever you want.”

Hayley shook her head, laughing. “You’re full of surprises.”

Nearby, a street performer pulled out a guitar and sang, garnering a small crowd.

Hayley nudged him with her elbow. “You should get up there, show them your moves.”

Okay, maybe there was a limit to what he would do in the name of love. “I knew introducing you to my sister would be a bad idea.” He leaned down to kiss her. “She wants to know when she can meet you.”

“Really? How’s tomorrow for you?”

Harrison laughed. “I think I’m going to be busy tomorrow. In fact, I was thinking of sticking around for a few extra days. Maybe take a look around the city. Do you know anyone who might be interested in that?”

“If you’re sticking around, you’ll be lucky to see the outside of my bedroom.”

“That a fact?” he asked against her lips.

“Mmm,” she hummed into his mouth.

Hayley pulled on his hand, leaning up to kiss him on the cheek. “Stop looking so glum.”

“I still can’t believe I agreed to this.”

“It’s the fiftieth anniversary. We couldn’t miss it.”

“We could.”

“Hush.” She kissed him. “After last year, I thought you would enjoy being back.”
