“I’m not jealous… I’mpissed,” he snarled, tugging on the tie around my waist. My dress gaped over my bare shoulder, revealing the hurry with which I’d dressed.“I should have cut out his tongue.”

I was panting and he hadn’t even touched me yet.“You could have, but then you wouldn’t be here with me.” I licked at my dry lips.“It’s gross, but I’m used to it. That guy is a lowlife who’s gone home to nothing but a shower and his right hand. Who’s really winning here?”

“You shouldn’t have to get used to it.” He parted the material over my chest. I freed my arms, letting it pool around my hips. His eyes flared, catching on my bare breasts, but he didn’t touch me. Instead, his hands dipped beneath my skirt, pausing at the band on my underwear and meeting my eyes. I lifted my hips and he drew them down my legs, stuffing the lacy pink fabric into his back pocket.

“Dirty.” I grinned. He smirked back, pulling out one of the stools at the island and sitting. Lifting my right foot, he slid the sandal off and set it atop his thigh. One then the other, spreading me open until my centre was only partially hidden by the skirt of my dress.

His eyes found mine, the silent question there. Is this okay?I nodded.

He descended, pressing a kiss to the inside of both my knees that I felt all the way to my toes. Just when I thought he was about to go further and make my morning, he settled back in the chair.“Have I told you how beautiful you are?” he said.

“Not today.”

“That’s careless of me.” His hand curled around my calf, thumb rubbing. I gasped.“You are so beautiful.” He leaned in again, pressing a kiss to my bare stomach then laying his forehead against my skin.“When I first saw you that night in the manor… you took my breath away.”

“You took my breath away too.” For the first time, I think he believed me because he sat back in his chair, expectant. It took me a full thirty seconds to realise what he wanted. The tips of his ears flushed and I knew he was too nervous to ask for it.

“You want to watch me?” I asked, my hands tracing up my thighs.“Like this?”

“Yes.” The single syllable was guttural.

With a riot of butterflies in my stomach, I fell back on the island, flipping my skirt to my lap so he could see when I dipped my fingers between my thighs. Our groans came in tandem.“You’re so pretty like this, princess.” I opened my eyes to find his stare not between my legs or the bounce of my breasts, but on my face.

With anyone else, this would feel strange—wrong. But with him, I wanted to give a piece of me that no one else would ever have. A piece that would forever live and breathe in this moment. When I gasped out,“I want to see you too,” he didn’t even hesitate to free himself from his shorts, groaning my name as he brought himself pleasure. It took only minutes to come apart, our gazes twisting and tangling into an impossible knot I never wanted to untie.

Mal lounged on my bed, still dressed in only a bath towelwhen I entered the bedroom. Wrapped in only my dressing gown and scrunching the moisture from my curls with a microfibre towel, I eyed him with conspicuous little looks, wondering if I’d ever grow sick of the sight. I didn’t think so.

After the…events…in the kitchen, Mal had been keen to shower together. I’d rebuffed the idea out of real concern for our personal safety. If we’d squeezed in that tiny shower stall together, we probably would have drowned. I also needed a little bit of distance to think over the Jasmine situation—not that it felt like asituation, but it had the potential to become one. It wasn’t jealousy; I trusted Mal wanted me and only me. Okay…perhaps I was a little jealous. Jasmine was stunning and curvy with legs for days you’d have to be blind not to notice. My worry came from the fact he hadn’t told me, and I detested being blindsided.

Hooking my hair towel over the end of the bed, I curled my fingers around the metal frame.“Can I ask you something?”

His warm eyes were already on me, taking in my dripping silhouette as though memorising me.“Of course.”

I tried to school my features.“Jasmine,” I started.

“What about her?” A groove appeared between his dark brows.

“You went on a date with her. Why didn’t you tell me?”

His hand froze in motion, damp hair half slicked back.“Who told you that?”

It wasn’t exactly the response I’d been hoping for.“She did.”

He drew up. His mouth opened and closed once.“But… it was barely a date. Why would I tell you that?”

My expression suggested he couldn’t truly be that clueless.“Because I’ve been chatting to her in the pet shop nonstop. She joined June and I for lunch last week.” I flung a hand at him.“If it were me and another man, wouldn’t you want to know?”

His voice flattened, his entire face along with it.“Not really.”

“Did you sleep together?”

“No!” He was on his feet.“Come here.” In a single heartbeat, he caught me around the waist, lifting me in one smooth motion until he was back on the bed with me splayed over his lap. My gown gaped to my navel but neither of us even blinked.

“This isn’t talking,” I pointed out.

“Yes it is, I’m getting to it.” His fingers brushed through my wet hair.“I need you to touch me—I think best when you touch me.”

I moaned, thunking my head off his muscled chest.“Be fair! How can I possibly be annoyed when you say stuff like that?”
