She pouted out her lip. “It never works anyway.”

“You’ll see how well it’s working soon enough.”

Shade fell on her lounge chair, and she looked up to see one of Nico’s security team.

“You’re two o’clock appointment is here, sir.”

“Wonderful. Show him in, Rocco.” Nico tugged on her hand. “Up, baby doll. I’ve hired a photographer to take our picture.”

“A photographer? Now?” She sat up, feeling dizzy.

“Yes, dear. It was his only available time.”

She frowned. “But I’m not ready.”

“Nonsense. I’ve brought this for you to slip on.” Nico held out a gauzy white wrap dress. “Just slip your arms in, dear.”

She obeyed, as she’d become accustomed to doing. He pulled the garment up her arms and over her shoulders, then turned her and tied it in front with a bow that rested over her left hip.

“There. You look lovely.” He pushed the long, dark hair over her shoulder. “Absolutely stunning.”

She glanced down, wondering if the red bikini showed through.

He extended his hand. “Come, darling. Let’s stand by the railing near the bougainvillea.”

A photographer came out onto the rooftop and lifted his camera.

Asia thought it was odd he didn’t shake hands with Nico or introduce himself.

“Is this background good?” Nico asked.

“Perfect, Mr. A. The pink blooms really pop.”

They posed in several positions, then Nico said he wanted some of just her, so she complied. After the photographer got some shots, Nico stepped behind her again. He wrapped his arms around her and put his cheek to hers.

“Will you do something for me, sweetheart?”

“Of course,” she murmured, covering his arms with hers and leaning against him. Her skin flushed.

Nico’s hands moved to the knot at her hip, and before she knew what he was about to do, he tugged the knot free, and whispered in her ear.

“I want a few shots of you in that bikini, the one that’s been tormenting me all week.”

She grabbed at his hands, but he pulled the dress open and off her.

A flush of heat flashed over her skin. “Nico—”

“Now, don’t be shy, darling. These are just for me.”

She stood nervously as he took the dress and moved away, leaving her standing in just the red, barely there string bikini. She felt suddenly self-conscious and uncomfortable as the camera clicked away and the photographer moved closer, getting different angles.

She moved her hand to touch her other arm, but the photographer reached out and pushed it out of the way. “Don’t cover yourself. You’ll ruin the shot.”

Her eyes flicked to Nico, sure he wouldn’t like the man touching her or that he’d at least stop the session, but he just stood there, watching from the other side of the pool where he’d retreated to light a cigarette.

Finally, the photographer said he had enough, and Nico nodded, motioning him to leave.

Asia practically ran to the chaise and snatched a towel, wrapping it around her. A wave of dizziness swamped her, and she sank to the seat.
