Igor.

That motherfucking bastard.

It follows that he must be Z and if I’m right then it wasn’t Jason who set me up to go to prison. It was Igor.

“Dante what is it?” Serenity comes closer. “Does it mean something?”

“It means your father helped killed mine.”

The blood drains for her already pale alabaster skin.

* * *

“I got these.” Virgo hands me a print out from the coroner’s office. It’s part of the notes from my father’s autopsy report.

The correct ones.

An hour ago when I called Virgo back he started looking. Looking into Igor.

We decided to meet at the club so no one can listen in on our conversation.

The contract piece was enough evidence for me to run over to Igor’s house and kill his ass, but I needed to speak to Virgo to keep me grounded and come up with a proper plan.

There are pictures of my father’s body, which mostly looks like a skeleton because of how he died. Virgo has circled the picture with the back of Father’s skull.

I can see his reasons straightaway.

“The original coroner queried the marking at the back of his head. It’s synonymous with a gunshot wound.” Knowing how hurtful this truth is to me, Virgo has been cautious with his words. “The blood work suggested your father was dead when the accident occurred, so he didn’t die from the accident but it was set up to make it look that way.”

“And so was that cock and bull story about my father saving Igor and the others.” There were two others my father supposedly saved from the explosion. I’m guessing they were in on the secret plot too. “My uncle killed my father. I just can’t get my head around it. This was why I was set up. He needed me gone so he could get to my father. With me out of the way it was almost easy for him to do this.”

“I’m sorry man. I can’t wrap my head around it either. They seemed so close.” Virgo looks as confused as I feel.

“I thought so too. There’s no way I could have ever anticipated this.” And fucking Igor with his walking stick, making everything look so legit no one would suspect a goddamn thing.

Even if he didn’t do all that I still would never have suspected him. we’re family. All this bull shit about seeing me as a son to him was just part of his manipulation game.

That was all shit talk designed to manipulate and distract me from what he was truly up to.

Igor killed my father and took over the Zaitsev and the Creed. Then he enlisted Jason into the Bratva. And the company. My company.

All of it needs to end. I need to become the leader my father raised and take back the reigns of control.

“What are you planning Dante?” Virgo studies my face.

“I need this done today.Resolved.”I pull the contract piece from my pocket and hold it up like I’m waving a flag. “Night mustn’t fall with this shit hanging over my head.”

“Okay. Well you have me and my men at your disposal.” Virgo nods with determination. “But be on guard, Dante. Your uncle is clearly no fool. He may have even factored in that you figured things out because of Roland’s death. I don’t think we were supposed to get there in time to see him dead. Finding him the way we did is a dead giveaway that we’re being watched, that he was killed so he wouldn’t tell us vital information, and also that someone we know must have done killed him. Everything was fucking sloppy. ”

“I know. But that also means everything else Igor does could be the same. I don’t want to give him the benefit of time, so he can have a chance to plan or plot or flee. We need to strike right now.”

“I agree. What do you have in mind?”

“Meet him.” I grit my teeth. “Meet him and take the war to him, but on my turf.”

I know exactly where this showdown should occur.

“Alright. Let’s do it.”
