My jaw loosens. “You did it.”
“Yes, but there’s a problem.” His eyes dull, clouding with sadness.
“What?”
“She doesn’t remember who she is.” He pauses for a beat. “I sent Billy over there when I got the lead because I had to go to Spain. He said she’s going by the name of Alice. Billy has known Olivia since she was born. When she spoke to him, she didn’t have a clue who he was. She thought he was mistaken when he called her Olivia.”
Jesus.“You’re sure it’s her?”
“Yes. It’s her. Billy checked her down to her DNA, so it’s definitely her. These are all the details.” He lifts the paperwork.
“My God. What next?”
Now he smiles, looking more like himself. “I’m flying out to get her back. Whether she remembers me or not, she’s still my girl.”
