“The red Ferrari is mine now.”
Fuck, she’s sexy when she’s bossy.
The restraint I have not to bend her over the table and fuck her is beyond my understanding.
The food comes, and she claps her hands together, being adorable. I will pine after this woman for the rest of my life.
She lets out an obscene number of moans while eating, making me shift in my chair.
“Sign the papers.”
She chews on a breadstick. “My answer won’t change, and if you suggest that one more time, it’s war.”
“When hasn’t it been war between us?”
“You haven’t seen war,amore.”
It’s the first endearment I’ve heard from her, and, my heart, being the weak motherfucker it is for this woman, fills my chest. I drag a hand down my face.
“You left me.”
“And now I’m back.”
“It doesn’t work like that.”
She waves me off. “I invited your family and mine over tomorrow.”
I take in a lungful of air, trying to calm myself. “Why?”
“I love you, and if I didn’t know you loved me back, I would sign those papers and say good riddance.”
Getting nowhere with her, I pay for our food. Outside, she grips my hand in hers.
“It’s only you for me. I know I am a handful, but so are you. Let me back in.” Her sinful lips tilt into a mesmerizing smile.
“Follow me home.”
“Will you let me in?”
“No.”
“Then, I don’t have a home.” She marches to the car and speeds away.
I slam my fist on the hood; nothing has ever made me feel this torn. What if she wakes up one day and regrets that she stayed with me when she could have had a life outside of this? I would not survive that. But I doubt I’ll survive losing her either.
My phone rings. If she didn’t go straight home, God help me. When I see it’s Rowan, the IT expert, I freeze. It couldn’t have been more than five minutes.
“What?”
“Are you in the red Ferrari?”
My pulse skyrockets.
“No, what is it?”
“Someone hacked the system. I got it back though and stopped the car.”
I will fucking slaughter whoever did that, putting my wife in danger, in their fucking sleep.
