Page 24 of Sinner's Perdition

I hang up, not giving a fuck about the rules. Ricardo wants to talk; he’ll meet me on my turf. Parking the car, I head into the private elevator.

When the doors slide open, I step inside my penthouse. My housekeeper is immediately there to greet me. “Are you hungry, sir?”

With a nod, I go into the dining room to eat. My brother calls back, and I slide my thumb across ‘Accept’ and take the call.

“He’s on his way.”

I hang up without another word.

Desperate and stupid. After this, my reign of terror will be cemented. All the other families in the East Coast are already under my thumb. But the DeCavallaros thought they could get away. I’ll show them tonight what it means to disrespect me.

My phone rings again, and Cameron greets me with, “I am quite impressed with your fiancée. But then again, it was me who told you that, her being my sister’s best friend and all.”

“Asshole.”

“I wonder if she’ll tame you before you ever succeed in taming her.”

I hang up on him, that smug laughter of his remaining, angering me. I dial Kieran and tell him about my meeting.

“Ricardo’s not stupid, he knows we’re after him.” He’s always so matter-of-fact.

“I will stop him before he can do more harm.”

“Good. Take care.”

“I’ll make sure not to die before we own the world.”

“That’s the oath.”

I shower and change into a three-piece suit on, then clasp on my Titan watch.

My men wait for me in the underground garage. I take off in my car as they flank me in two SUVs.

Inside my club, located strategically in the industrial area of the city, where I conduct all my business, I take the seat at the head of the conference table. This soundproof, dark room has seen so much blood, I should paint it red.

I tap the wooden table when the door opens, and my man signals Ricardo and his men have arrived.

“You know what you have to do.”

He nods, closing the door and opening it shortly afterward.

“Cato.”

“Ricardo.”

I gesture for him to take a seat.

“This is the first and last time I am indulging you.” He reeks of desperation. Coming to me this quickly only proves it further.

“Your first mistake was to indulge me to begin with. It will set a precedent.”

His eyes slit into two angry orbs, and he slaps his palms on the table, breathing heavily.

I lean back. “The second one was to think you’re capable of starting a war. Sadly, for you, no one can fucking win against me.”

He bursts into laughter. “I thought you’d be smart, but you’re just an arrogant fool.”

I press a button, and the doors open. His chest heaves at his men down on the floor, all ten dead, heads lolled to the side, eyes open and soulless, blood coating the dark floor.
