“I should have been at your side. This burden . . . We should have split it like brothers.”

I trace my finger over the equilateral triangle tattoo on my forearm. It’s the three of us, united. Meaning no one has the upper hand. We will act accordingly to protect what we have built. And the insignia is Latin meaning, ‘brothers for life, sworn in blood, acting by oath.’

“After this, we’ll be unstoppable,” he adds.

“We will.”

“Our empire is meant for three. I don’t care if you don’t have a soul anymore, as long as you stay alive.”

The discussion is getting too serious, so I change the topic.

“How’s the lamb?”

“I’ll kill you myself if you don’t stop calling her that.”

“Someone is in a mood.”

“Just don’t call Aurora that.”

“Finally owning your feelings for her?”

“Aurora was made to be owned by me. She was made to be mine. And you?”

“I can’t let Chiara go . . .”

Cameron’s name flashes on the screen. I create a group video call. “I had to shake some hands and it took longer than expected. You could have postponed the talk until I was done.”

“To the pussy in our group,” I say.

“If I had a pussy, one of you assholes would be dead trying to tap that.”

“One of us did that to your sister,” I add with a smirk.

“I hope someone shoots you in the dick, and I can console your fiancée.”

“Fuck you, if you go anywhere near Chiara, I’ll fucking kill you.”

Kieran drags a hand down his face. “Cameron, stop antagonizing him. Cato has work to do.”

“But she’ll be in the family.”

“If you smile in her direction, I’ll carve a permanent smile on your pretty boy face. That wouldn’t be convenient, future senator.”

“No one is touching anyone’s woman.” Kieran lets out an exasperated sigh.

“It’s easy for you to say. You’re with my sister. I am sure Chiara would like me better.”

My jaw clenches. “You’re really asking for it.”

Cameron, the fucker, laughs. “When are you coming home, you know I do stupid shit when I’m bored.”

“I’m here too, asshole,” Kieran reminds him, and Cameron waves him off.

“No, you’re too desperate to get in my sister’s good graces to have time for anything else.”

“Why did we become friends with him to begin with?” I ask Kieran, cocking my head.

Cameron huffs. “Hey, you were the bitch who snuck between us.”
