Her dragon spoke up.Not this again.

I can’t help it, dragon. I keep waiting for it all to disappear.

We’ll work on that. For now, just focus on the ceremony and tonight.

Yes, once the ceremony was complete, she and Bronx would go back to his empty place—Violet was going to stay with her uncle Hudson—and finally kiss properly, which would trigger the mate-claim frenzy.

Bronx had wanted to be prepared, though, and he’d convinced Dr. Sid to give him a dose of the dragon silent drug to use, just in case Percy changed her mind.

It was yet another way he showed how much he cared about her, which made her love him even more.

Her dragon huffed.Then tell him.

Eventually.

Why?

It’s still new to me, and scary, and I don’t want to unlock some more pent-up emotions by finally admitting the truth to him.

Her beast grunted. But before she could reply, there was a knock on the door, and Brenna came in, wearing a dress similar to hers but in the bright-green color of Clan Glenlough.

The dragonwoman grinned and waggled her eyebrows. “Ready to mate your sexy older dragonman?”

Since Brenna had been teasing her about this for days, she merely rolled her eyes. “I want Bronx. I don’t care about his age.”

Brenna lowered her voice. “He does have the sexy older-male vibe, though. Not that I’d trade my two-headed dragon-shifter mate for anything. I’d miss his grunting, at the very least.”

Percy laughed. “You can have Killian’s variety of grunts. I’ll take my smiling, more open dragonman any day of the week.”

Brenna winked. “To each their own, which is a good thing. If everyone was the same, it’d be boring.”

Sarah, Hudson’s human mate, walked in. “What would be boring?”

The human was a lot like her, in that they were quieter and more reserved than their mates. That kinship had started a tentative friendship, one she hoped would grow. “If we all wanted the same mates.”

“Oh, aye. I couldn’t handle someone like Brooklyn or even Tristan.”

The middle Wells brother was easily the most outgoing. Percy shook her head. “I only want Bronx.”

Sarah touched her arm lightly. “And I’m glad of it, lass. Bronx deserves some happiness, and you make him light up in a way I never noticed before.”

Her cheeks flushed. “If you say so.”

Sarah nodded. “Aye, I do. But now’s not the time to argue. Bronx is waiting in the wings for you. Are you ready?”

She looked from her soon-to-be sister-in-law to Brenna and nodded. “Yes. More than anything.”

And as they exited the room and headed for the dais in the great hall, her heart raced.

She would not only officially have a clan of her own soon, but also have a mate and a stepdaughter.

In other words, a family, which was something she’d never had before.

Her beast said,Don’t start crying.

I won’t. And they would be tears of happiness, anyway.

Still, I want to have fun. And Bronx will worry if our eyes are red. I don’t want to waste time once we’re back at the cottage. I’m more than ready to claim our dragonman.
