I heard the door open and shut and he was gone.

I just stood there, shocked, horny as hell, and most of all confused. This day had been crazy. From almost dead to more alive than ever in less than twenty-four hours. Who the hell was this beast of a man?

Chapter 5

Andrei

Elise washot. There was no doubt about that.

She looked like a goddess standing there, clutching that towel, barely covering her shaved center, belly, and full breasts. I tried to look away. I really, reallytried, but as the devil would have it, I couldn't take my eyes off her. She was curvy in all the right places—exactly how I liked it. And when I saw the dried blood all over her shoulders, I did something I never did before.

I lost control.

Washing her back was for me, not for her. All I could think about was moving my hand right in between her legs and start massaging her heat until she begged me to fuck her senseless. But I somehow gained control again and dropped the rag like an asshole to her feet. As if I wanted to punish her for my own weakness.

My mind raced. There were more than a few problems with what just happened. One, I had most definitely acted like some kind of sex-starved pervert who hadn’t seen a naked woman in years. To be honest, thatwastrue. I hadn't seen a naked woman this close in a while. It came with the whole low-profile thing on the run, and I was never a dick-driven prick who needed pussy to feel like a man.

But the second and bigger problem washer. She wasH-O-T. I mean, every part of her that I’d seen had lit a fire of want in me to the point I felt my pants tightening as I grew rock hard.

I hurried outside and hoped the night air would cool me off. Resting my back against the wall, I exhaled deeply. Then I looked down at my pants, wondering what to do about my stiff one. I took a few steps forward and sat down on the porch, slid off my shoes, and let my feet rest on the cool earth, grounding me. Looking up at the starry sky, I tried to think about something less sensual. Like the day I first flew over Durban, or the day my sister got married to her cop boyfriend, who was the reason I was on the run. But the more I thought about how happy my sister had been since she met that guy, the more I wondered if a monster like me could ever have something even close for himself. I’d never given it much thought before, but my mind did wander there sometimes. Imagining what it would be like to be with a woman who accepted me for who I was... But every time I thought ofthat, the reality of how dangerous it was to be with me brought me back to reality. I wasn’t just running from some parking tickets. I was Andrei fucking Kowtisch. This was the sort of life I’d always live.

On the run.

In danger.

Alone.

Yet this girl in my house... she was different. I knew it from the moment I found her in a puddle of blood. Broken but fearless.

She was running from something, just like me.

My mind started to wander again. Her body, every curve of it. Her breasts looked so soft. And her eyes? I had never seen such a beautiful green color before. The image of them had been permanently etched into my memory. She fucking got me hard like no other woman ever had. It must have been the loneliness on the run. Nothing more.

I shook my head again, willing the thought away. Then I looked down at my pants and saw the bulge was gone.

That’s when the door swung open. I leaned forward, folding my arms over my lap.

“I’m sorry for the scene I made about the spider,” she said, sounding rather breathy.

I nodded at her briefly before looking away again. The T-shirt I’d given her stretched down to her midthigh, but she wasn’t wearing anything in the form of pants.

She took a few steps and sat down beside me. We sat there in silence for a few minutes. She was close enough that I could smell her, and I don’t think I’d ever lovedthe scent ofmy own soap and bodywash as much as I did in that moment.

“It’s been a crazy night, huh?” she said.

“It’s been a bit bumpy.”

Not really. A night like today was my life.

“Is this your place?” she asked, glancing back at the cabin.

“No. I just rented it for a few months.”

“So you’re just visiting?”

“Something like that.”

Her eyes settled on my tattooed arms.
