I roll my eyes because of course that is all they care about. That and how popular they are and how much money they come from.

“There is a party this weekend at Zain’s. Everyone will be there, including Ky,” the girl to her right says.

I haven’t heard about it, but then again, I’m no one to these people. Just an unwanted pest they want to get rid of. My locker smell can attest to what they all think of me.

I pass by them, and then the other girl to their right adds, “I just saw him go into the empty lab classroom with Jen. I think he likes her since they are always somewhere getting each other off. I heard he might make them official.”

The other girl snorts. “I doubt that. Everyone knows Ky doesn’t believe in having a girlfriend. He just likes to hook up.”

So, they have been friends for a long time. Probably not long after I was taken away by social services. It’s crazy to know that he is now best friends with my half-brother, even if I don’t consider him my family. I wouldn’t know since Tyler doesn’t say much on the rides to school, except this morning he asked if I wanted breakfast. Of course, I declined.

I take a seat in the corner like the first day, and the classroom door opens. Ky walks in with Jen in tow, and it’s obvious they were screwing in the lab. My stomach sinks because she is the meanest out of all the girls who go here, and I still can’t believe he would want a girl like that. Nicole looks up and her mouth turns into a frown.

“Sorry I was almost late. You know how Ky gets,” Jen says breathlessly, adjusting her skirt and making it blatantly obvious what they were up to. Nicole gives her a smile that doesn’t reach her eyes, and it’s apparent Jen doesn’t know about Ky screwing Nicole. Interesting.

Ky takes his usual seat and raises his brow when he sees Jen and Nicole talking. Probably laughing about it to himself. Typical player. Jen looks over at him and licks her lips, and I swear I’m about to throw up. It shouldn’t bother me. I shouldn’t care, but Ky was everything to me for so long, and it hurts.

I take my book that smells like puke and open it. If I spray something on the textbook to lessen the smell, I’ll ruin it, so I have to be creative to get the smell out.

“Oh my God, what is that smell?” Jen says, making a face and scrunching her nose as she looks at me while covering her face with her hand.

I guess I know who was behind the cheese and the rat pics. Bitch.

“It’s that street rat.” She looks over at Tyler. “Do you at least give her some advice about hygiene?” Her eyes find mine and Ky is grinning.

He thinks this is funny. What happened to the sensitive Ky who was defending my cat? Judging by the look on his face, that Ky doesn’t exist. This is the real Ky.

“Leave her alone, Jen,” Tyler tells her.

“I’m just pointing it out. You should explain this to her. I mean, her snatch stinks.”

“I think you should be worried about where the dick you just rode has been before you talk about anyone else’s snatch. Stop being an insecure, snobbish skank. It only leads to desperation, but skanks like you can’t handle things you can’t control. That is why you let guys treat you like shit,”I snap.

“What did you say to me?” she snarls.

I get up from my chair and in her face with the book that she ruined. “You heard what I said,” I say through clenched teeth, holding the book up to her face, her eyes widening. She never thought I had a backbone. I’ve been watching myself, but there is only so much I can take. “Keep putting cheese and shit in my locker and see what I’ll do next, you dirty cunt. I’m sick of your childish games.”

“Sit down, Rubiana.”

My head whips around to look at Ky sitting behind her, defending her. Rage runs through my veins like poison. His face is hard, and his ebony eyes are and unreadable.

I lean in closer to him, the hood of my hoodie sliding off. “Or what?” I threaten in a low tone. “What are you going to do, huh? Kick my ass? Tell me not to fuck with your little piece of ass?”

“Don’t threaten me. It will not go in your favor.”

Oh, this motherfucker. I laugh through my nose sarcastically. “Bring it. I’m not scared of you.” I turn my head toward Jen. “None of you.”

“You touch me, and I’ll have you arrested like the little thug you are,” Jen warns.

I tilt my head. “Bitch, you wouldn’t be able to dial 911 when I’m done with you. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.” I lower my voice to a whisper. “People are watching us now. But it’s when they are not that the real fun will begin.”

“Fuck you. That is why no one wants you here. You’re nothing, it is why your parents don’t even want you. You’re just a waste of space.”

“At least I’m not an easy lay who spreads her legs for anyone.”

She laughs. “You’re just jealous. One of the hottest guys at this school wants me all the time.”

The class is silent, and my eyes find Ky as he slouches in his chair with a smug smile on his face. “Interestingly enough, I’m not interested in a cheating, backstabbing liar.”
