The other girls are silent. My eyes find Abby and she gives me an apologetic expression.

“Fuck you, Ky.” His head whips in my direction and the smile that breaks across his lips is wicked and full of anger.

“You’re a hypocrite. Sitting their treating every chick like a piece of meat. What are you trying to show, Abby? That it’s perfectly okay to be talked to like that?”

One of the brunette’s who was sitting next to Ky snorts “You’re just jealous. He wants us, not a dirty, homeless piece of shit like you. It’s no wonder you know how to dance like that. It’s how whores dance.”

I snort. “Why, because I can move better than that lame ass routine you all pull. Two-stepping with no rhythm. A five-year-old can come up with a better routine than that shit you call dancing, or whatever you all do. Your whole cheer squad is wack as fuck. You all should be banned. I had to practically bleach my eyes. Abby did the best she could with that shit you sprung on her. The routine came from the source. A bunch of plastic, overprivileged loser skanks with no rhythm.”

The brunette’s face turns into a frown and I snicker.

“They only say it’s good and go along with it because you’re all a bunch of thirsty bitches who would do anything for attention.”

“Get out!” Ky roars.

I shake my head. “Gladly.”

I turn to leave, and Tyler stops me. “I’ll take you, Rubiana.”

“I’ll walk back. Stay with your friends.”

“Tyler, we need to head out. The run,” Chris says, checking his phone and looking between Tyler and Ky.

“Fuck, I almost forgot.” Tyler runs his hand through his hair. “Alright, let’s go.” Tyler’s eyes find mine. “Get in my truck, Rubiana. I can’t let you walk. I’ll take you afterwards.”

Rubi

THE CHEERLEADING BITCHEShead home, and we are heading to West Park. Ky is in the passenger side, and Abby, Chris, and I are in the back. I’m sitting right behind Ky and notice that the houses begin to look like abandon shacks the farther we go. We are heading to the warehouse district. It is where drug deals go down, but I’m confused. Why would Tyler, Chris, and Ky be involved in anything like this. Then it hits me.

This is how they keep the gangs and drugs out of Westlake prep. They are controlling it, but then that means they know Cesar, if not someone under him. They don’t know how dangerous Cesar is. He doesn’t fuck around and has nothing to lose. Fuck. I lean forward and glance at Abby and she looks nervous.

I lean forward. “Hey, I thought you were dropping us off?”

“Tyler said afterwards,” Ky quips.

Shit. The guys seem calm like they do this all the time. I bet that they do, and I now know why they are so respected in school. They are the bad boys of West Lake who control the gangs from coming into Westlake prep.

Tyler stops in the middle of the road. There are abandoned warehouses to the left and right. It is dark already, and the light from the truck shines bright into the three black cars blocking the street. Tyler gets out first, and I’m about to tell him to stop, but he is out before my voice escapes my lips.

I stare at the exchange, and I notice Tyler gesture with his hands after he hands him money from his pocket and I recognize the person he hands it to, Cesar, but he walks back to his car and Tyler tells him something. I’m about to text Cesar, but then the driver’s side door opens, and Tyler is furious.

“What happened? Where is it?”

Tyler shakes his head. “It’s not Henry this time. It’s the other asshole, and he says he is taking our money and not giving us shit.”

“What the fuck! Has he lost his fucking mind. Does he know who he is messing with?” Ky says through clenched teeth.

“Who the fuck is this asshole?” Chris chimes in, leaning forward in the middle seat.

“We can take them. Fuck these assholes. We had an agreement after we fucked their little crew up last time when they wanted to come to our school and funnel their shit through there. They don’t run West Park. Yo–” he trails off when Ky gives him a glare.

“Fuck, dude, that means no weed,” Chris says with disappointment. “I need that shit to calm the fuck down.”

Not wanting to hear anymore, I open the door to the truck and jump down.

“Rubiana!” Tyler shouts at me, but I slam the door shut.

“Rubi, get in the fucking truck!” Ky shouts behind me. “It’s dangerous.”
