Looking around the house, she realized that there was a good chance he might not be here when she delivered – nor could she wait, hope, or expect a miracle. He always provided so long as she was open, telling him what she needed… and did the same now.

When he returned, she wanted him spending time with her – not working around the house fixing up a baby’s room like she’d originally planned. She wanted to be the strong, independent, and confident woman that he made her feel like.

Finding a baby bed online that was absolutely adorable, she didn’t hesitate. The carved posts, the curve of the wood along with the ‘easy-drop’side, would make it very convenient to put the baby in the crib. Without hesitation, she placed the order to have it shipped here and copied Killian on it in case the bank notified him of the large withdrawal on the joint account.

Hey Sprinkles,

I found a baby crib that I absolutely love… just thought I would share in case you get a notification of a large charge. That was me. Your crazy little mama is in full-nesting mode and can’t wait. Ha ha ha…

If the subject comes up during any of the baby appointments, do you want to know the sex of the baby? I would prefer it be a surprise – but I understand the temptation too.

Love and kisses,

Destiny

Two weeks later,Destiny was in the obstetrician’s office feeling a little overwhelmed emotionally. She wept when they swabbed her arm to draw blood, and again when she saw the first sonogram of their baby.

This dream was finally becoming a reality, and it seemed so surreal. Dr. Bow was so sweet and kind, listening and answering all sorts of questions that Destiny had… before chuckling easily.

“I guess I need to remember that while it’s commonplace for me? This is all new to you,” Dr. Bow said gently, smiling at her. “I love seeing dedicated parents that are truly thrilled to be bringing another life into this world – and it makes my job so much easier.”

“This baby is a miracle to me,” Destiny sniffled, wiping her eyes.

“Every baby is a miracle,” Dr. Bow smiled tenderly. “And we will become very good friends over the next eight months as our little Baby Briscoe grows and changes. Okay?”

“That sounds wonderful.”

A week later,Killian shipped her two ornaments for the Christmas tree that made her laugh. They were glass blown and looked like birthday candles… specifically a four and an eight – just like their wedding. It was so terribly sweet and romantic of him that her heart just melted as the memories flooded over her.

The next day brought a package of tiny socks that looked like dress shoes and pajamas that said, ‘My Daddy is a Pilot’. Destiny loved that Killian was so excited about the baby and obviously wanting to show how much everything was on his mind.

Every evening she was home – or every morning, she was reading and re-reading her baby book, learning about the changes happening with her body. In fact, for Christmas for the both of them, she picked up a floor length mirror so she could send Killian photos of her side profile as her belly changed and grew.

Today, on Christmas Eve, was the first photograph.

My sweet Sprinkles,

Merry Christmas, my love – from the both of us. I will send photos as often as I can, but here we are at seven weeks. Not much there, but I can’t wait to document the changes.

I hope you guys are doing something for Christmas there – I’m celebrating with a hot cocoa, using a candy cane as a stirrer (oh my gosh, best thing ever! Glory got me hooked on them), and watching ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ tonight. Everyone is at home with their families – including Sophie and I just want a little privacy, you know?

Thank you for the ornaments – they are precious! I have a little two-foot-tall Christmas tree standing in the corner and got some silver tinsel to go with the pink and bl – OH MY GOSH – you got pink and blue candle ornaments? Like for baby gender?!

Well, poop! Now I’m blubbering in my hot cocoa like some crazy woman. You are sooo stinkin’ incredible!

What did I ever do to deserve you because I’M GOING TO DO IT AGAIN!

I love you with every fiber of my being, Killian,

Destiny

P. S. Now I’m really sobbing! UPS just dropped off another package not ten minutes ago… and you got me a new robe? I’m sitting on the loveseat in a floor-length velvet burgundy robe that has a padded gold lapel that is stitched with all sorts of roses… and I feel like a queen. Thank you so much and I can’t wait to snuggle against you wearing it. XOXO
