Fear twisted in my gut for Paisley and for my brother. I knew Zane or Charles wouldn’t hesitate to take out Percy. He’d been a wild child since the start, just like I had been, and knowing Percy, he would be giving them hell.

Ren came back inside. “Hannah told us he has the sister and she’s not listening to reason. How can we help them?”

I shrugged. “I honestly…Ren, I have no idea. I can’t even get my own woman back.”

“I’m sorry, boss. I should have trusted her like you did.”

“You’re my right hand man, Ren. I would have been pissed if you simply trusted what I was doing without question. It’s why you’ve kept us all safe all these years. Now get out there and try to find some answers.”

He nodded quickly and left me alone again. I looked out the window and at my gardens, my entire kingdom, and I knew come morning it would be gone.

Everything would be gone.

I grabbed my phone from my desk and headed out of my home. My chest was getting tight as I looked up at the grand brick and limestone palace I’d constructed, knowing I probably would never see it again and I texted Ren and the boys to meet me up in the city.

This place had been fully evacuated. I felt for the poison in my pocket, the one Saraya had brewed for me. It was safe.

There was only one person I was going to use this on.

The one who started it all.

I fled through the tunnel, heading to the seedy city that my brother had corrupted and was about to bury. I got into my car and sped toward our family home. Already, as I drove through the streets of Olympia, I knew there was a chance that no one would be home.

Zane had evacuated everyone.

But why?

Since when did he care? I sped up the driveway and parked my car to the side. Pocketing my phone, I got out and jogged up to the door. The last time I was here, Percy had warned me. I should have gone back in and saved him.

I should have fucking fought for my brother like he did for me, my whole damn life. Pushing aside the anger inside of me, I opened the door. It was dead quiet.

They were probably gone but maybe they had left some clue as to where they went. I headed for my father’s old study but it was still unused from when he had seemingly retired. Dust lay all over his desk and books.

I was about to close the door again when I saw a section of books on his bookcase that looked new.

Ducking inside, I moved over to the bookcase and pulled at the first book but it wasn’t a book, it was a dummy book to conceal a hidden door. When I pulled at it, the door unclicked.

I pushed it open, to find a room hidden behind it. The walls were filled with computer screens and they were trained on different parts of the city. One was trained in my underground kingdom.

That fucker.

Another was trained on Zane’s office and apartment, and another on Raina’s personal bedroom. There were scenes from everyone’s lives on screen for my father to spy on.

Betrayal hit deep.

I could feel the anger rising from deep within my body, my stomach threatening to lose all the contents onto the floor.

I looked around for something I could use to find out where they went but the fucker had no paper in here. I moved back out into the office again and left.

How had I not known how fucking sick my family was?

I moved through the house with as much speed as I could muster but no one was here.

As I turned around, I was about to leave when I realized I hadn’t checked the dining room. The one room I had spent way too many dinners in, with freaks.

The second I opened the door, I wanted to retreat. My mother’s body lay on the surface of the table, bloodied and dead.

This had been unnecessary, she’d been clueless and would have done anything for him. Yet, he chose to eliminate her.
