She hurriedly thanked him and tumbled out of the car, racing up the short flight of stairs that would take her to the revolving doors of High Cloud Advertising in her heels.

She rushed through her regular morning greetings with people she passed on her way and headed straight to her office.

Except her office was no longer there.

By that, she meant it was devoid of office furniture. It was just a square, empty room. What was happening?

Where were her things? Worse, no one she asked seemed to know. They arrived at work to find her office that way. She glanced at the watch on her wrist. Marcy was out this time of the morning, running errands and checking out venues, and they usually met up at around 10 a.m.

She really had to charge her phone, but that would have to wait until she figured things out.

Determined to find out what was happening, she marched to Sandra Hitchcock’s office.

“What are you doing here?” Sandra asked, as a way of greeting. “You’ve been moved to Mr. McLeod’s head office,” she said with a touch of irritation, confusion, and envy in her voice.

Oh no, he didn’t.

It didn’t surprise her that this had “Hunter” written all over it, but it still irked her.

Retracing her steps, she exited the building hurriedly. Crap, now she would have to take a cab. She was so mad she hoped she didn’t explode in the car before she got to tell him exactly what an insufferable man he was.

Instead, she found Karl waiting for her right there at the entrance of High Cloud Advertising, with the passenger door open. His question about her destination didn’t seem so weird now.

She threw herself into the car and folded her arms across her chest.

“I’m going to kill your boss,” she said to his driver.

Karl chuckled good-naturedly, but she wasn’t joking.

The McLeod Enterprises building was, of course, in a league of its own. The sheer magnificence of it all would have astounded her if she had been a casual observer. But through her fury, everything else looked like a target she wanted to kick.

“Thank you, Karl,” she said, and she meant it. “Don’t worry about opening the door. I got it.” The man was innocent of any wrongdoing, and her gripe lay with Hunter.

“I will be here at exactly 5 p.m Kensley, ready to take you home.”

Oh god. By home, he meant Hunter’s home. Not hers.

She didn’t think it was possible, but her heart started to beat faster. Snippets of everything he had done to her flashed through her mind, but she quickly stamped them out. She had to stop thinking about him that way.

“Good morning, Ms. Reid.” A tall, blond supermodel greeted her as she stepped out of the car. She was dressed in a cream business suit with her skirt so tight that every outline of her enviable body was on display.

“Hi?” Kensley said, unsure.

“My name is Chelsea. Please come with me.”

Kensley exhaled, clenched her fists, and offered the woman a smile. Again, it wasn’t Chelsea’s fault that Hunter was an egotistical beast. Besides, she was going to demand that her office be moved back to High Cloud Advertising immediately.

“Thank you,” Kensley murmured, saving her energy in preparation for her epic battle with Hunter.

They went up an elevator, right to the 40th floor. In all her life, she would have never dreamed she would see the inside of the top floor of a skyscraper of a CEO’s office, whose net worth was just obscene.

They stepped off the elevator, and if Kensley were wearing something with sleeves, that was the moment she would roll them up, ready to fight.

She refused to let the opulence around her enamor her, just like his house.

“Ms. Reid, this is your office. I am completely at your disposal for anything you might need. Perhaps I can get you some coffee?”

Wait, what?
