He said nothing as he led me down to our bedroom. Once the door closed behind us, he let go of my arm, and I placed my own hand where his had been. He hadn’t hurt me, but I hated that I still felt his touch anyway.

“That was uncalled for, Natasha,” he began. His voice was steady and calm, and I hated that too. Before I even realized what I was doing, I was raising my hand to slap him.

He caught my wrist before I could.

He held onto it as he pulled me close. I was only wearing a wrap dress and he grabbed the belt, tearing it out from its place around my waist. I grabbed at the sides with my free hand, but my strength was no match for him as he tore through the rest of it like it was paper.

I’d forgotten that I wasn’t wearing panties underneath.

His gaze dropped and my face flamed with embarrassment. Right now, I loathed myself for making that choice since there was no way to take it back now.

In silence, he reached between my breasts and ripped the lace apart. My eyes watered as he pulled the remains of my outfit away. I raised my foot to kick him, and he caught my ankle, deftly removing the black flat off my foot. He twisted my leg and I fell to the bed, where he quickly removed the other, leaving me fully naked.

In one quick motion, he grasped my wrist and cuffed me to the bed. I shrieked when he captured the other, pinning me facedown to the bed. I tried to kick and fight when he grabbed my left ankle, but soon that was cuffed too. He didn’t stop until all four of my limbs were bound tightly to the bed.

I flinched when the bed moved beneath me, expecting his hand or belt to land on my bare ass, but he only sat beside me and surrounded one of my hands with his.

“Babygirl, you know in your heart that I love you and that I would never hurt you.”

I blinked and refused to answer, my eyes watery with unshed tears.

“You know full well how much you mean to me, don’t you?”

I turned my head away, not wanting to say anything in return because it would reveal just how much my emotions had run away from me right now.

He reached for me and smoothed my hair back.

“I love you, Natasha Reznikov. I always have and I always will. When I took your hand in marriage, it wasn’t for convenience or anything else. When I said my vows to you that day, I meant them forever. I belong to you, and you belong to me.”

His kind sweetness nearly undid me. I bit my lip, trying to maintain some measure of dignity by maintaining my silence.

“I need to return upstairs to finish my meeting. That was Nikolai Lenkov. I think that he might help me to deal with the Juarez cartel, and I sincerely hope your interruption did not interfere with that. Right now, the Columbians are the biggest hurdle that I’m facing. They tried to hurt you and I cannot let that stand, Natasha. If I do, it will paint me as weak to every other family in Chicago.”

My heart fell a little bit. “I didn’t mean…”

“I know, babygirl. When I get back, we’ll talk about Robert and I’ll show you everything about the man that you were going to marry and why you deserved so much better than him,” he snarled, his own hatred clear.

I tugged at my bonds, finally building the courage to turn my head and look into his eyes.

“Are you angry with me?” I whispered.

“No,moya malyshka.I’ll handle this and then when the meeting is over and the Lenkovs have left, I will return to you and we will deal with what happened today together,” he answered. The calmness in his voice was somehow more terrifying than if he’d come at me in a blind fury.

“Will you unbind me?” I asked, my voice beginning to shake.

“No, babygirl. You will remain here until I return.”

“But…” I began.

He cleared his throat.

His expression had taken a dangerous turn and I shifted, biting the inside of my cheek. I swallowed hard, wondering what he planned on doing to me, and suddenly the prospect of “something else” loomed in my mind, except now my morning curiosity had turned to a much more frightening reality.

“When I come back, you will sit in my lap and I will explain everything, my sweet bride. I promise you,” he said softly, and I nodded, not knowing what else to do.

He went to the door and paused before looking back. “I love you, Natasha. I want you thinking about that until I come back through this door. Understand me?”

“Yes, sir,” I whimpered.
