“Yeah, that shit hole is blowing up on Twitter. Last I heard, you guys were roughing it in the middle of a hurricane. The tweets are hysterical. Apparently, you guys are one day away from resorting to cannibalism.”

“Hardy har har. There’s plenty of fish.”

“Should I even ask if that’s a double entendre?”

We’ve just started talking, and I’m already done with this man.

“What’s up, Andrew?” I say, trying to get him to the point of this call.

“I wanted to see when you’d be back.”

I glance down at my phone, checking the time. “It’ll be at least another week.”

“What? You can’t be away that long.”

I count to ten, not wanting to lose my cool. My company has thrived because of my relationship with my team. I won’t snap at him because I’m having a day.

“Miss me?” I tease.

“More like I need the help,” he barks, and I don’t like his tone.

“Can’t you do your job without me around? That is what I pay you for.” I faux yawn. “Do you need me to find someone else to do your job?”

“Nah. I’m good. Have fun in the wilderness. You’re not needed.”

“Oh, how tides turn. I’ll be back as soon as I can. Hold down the fort, and we’ll discuss some reward for the extra weight you’ve all pulled.” I hang up the phone before he can say anything else.

I take a moment to observe the chaos on set. Shaking my head, I let out a sigh.

Hopefully, somewhere within that mess is an actual movie being made, but I’m not hopeful.

Someone taps my shoulder. Startled, I turn around to find Natasha looking at me with that annoyingly seductive smile that she always throws my way. I never wanted to sleep with her, but after being with Mallory, I certainly don’t.

“Paxton, I need you to come with me,” she says, batting her eyelashes a little too relentlessly.

My first reaction is to say no thank you and walk away. I have no intention of doing any more of this woman’s job. Every idea implemented to save this production has come from Stefan, Mallory, or me.

But I agreed to play nice and work with the set’s publicist. However, I never agreed to ditch the set, and my client, to run off with her. “What can I do for you?”

“We need to talk about the tweets that occurred during the storm.”

I haven’t even had a chance to get caught up with the tweets. Oddly, it’s been the last thing on my mind. “I think that’s a good idea. Let’s do that later with everyone. It’s something all of us should be apprised of.”

Her mouth opens and shuts, but I don’t give her time to object. I want nothing to do with being alone with this woman. She might be in PR, but she’s shown she’s anything but professional. For all I know, she’s behind the tweets. I won’t give her ammo to roast me with.

I turn around before she can say anything else and quickly walk away.

Before I can stop myself, I’m headed toward Mallory.

I’m a moth to a flame, bound to get singed.

She’s standing beside a tree, leaning back with her arms crossed, watching the set with a blank expression. She looks so beautiful at this moment, and I can’t help but stop and stare. I’ll take this time and enjoy the peace before returning to reality.

Despite knowing I shouldn’t, I sneak up on her, grab her hand, and pull her behind the tree. She yelps.

“Shh. It’s only me.” I turn her around so she’s facing me.

Her eyes light up in anticipation, and she opens her mouth to say something, but I stop her, slamming a brutal kiss to her lips.

Fucking heaven.

Mallory

@Stargossip: Something’s up on the set. It seems Paxton and Mallory have both extended their stay. Guess filming isn’t smooth sailing, after all.

@Betterthanfiction: Guess it was too good to be true.

@Deathtothesystem: @Betterthanfiction Oh, that’s cute. You actually thought this film was being made.

@Betterthanfiction: @Deathtothesystem What’s your problem?

@Deathtothesystem: Everything!

I pull away from Paxton, putting much-needed space between us. It’s certainly not what I want, but it’s imperative we do. We both know why we can’t be seen together—Teagan and Brad would be livid if they found out.

It’s our job to go to bat for our clients. If Teagan came to me with an issue about Brad that I found to be ridiculous, she would assume I was saying so because of my relationship with his agent, and vice versa.

It’s a huge conflict of interest while this movie is in production. Especially considering this film has been riddled with issues.

Doesn’t make it easier, though.

“You can’t sneak up on me like that,” I hiss at him.

“No?” Paxton retorts in an infuriatingly calm voice. His eyes are dancing with a mischievous glint. He’s enjoying himself.

At least one of us is.

I’m now riled up and horny, with no means to take care of the problem.
