EPILOGUE

BEXLI

Cayman and I were married a month from the day he proposed on the very same beach where we’d spent the afternoon making love and the evening lying on the sand, looking up at the stars.

Z and Nemesis insisted everyone take leave from the mission for the weekend, which meant Poseidon, Zeppelin, and Magnet were able to stand up with Cayman, and Wren, Hanadarko, and Kima were next to me when I said my vows to the man I loved.

Cayman had saved me in so many ways. First, from my father, then from the man who’d almost taken me away from him forever, and finally, by introducing me to people I now called friends and to a life I’d never dreamed possible.

I’d asked my mother to come. She didn’t. But Nonna did. She smiled and cried and put her hands on both sides of my face, saying words Kima had to translate.

“She said you’re beautiful here.” With the last word, Nonna put her hand on my heart, then took Cayman’s hand and put it in mine.“Ghal dejjem.”

“She saidforever,” Kima whispered.
