I don’t answer him. He’s a fucking asshole for even saying that. I want to smash my fist into his face for even suggesting it.

“Wouldn’t she be better in a hospital?” he asks. “She’d get the best care there, wouldn’t she?”

I take a steadying breath so I don’t reach for my gun in my holster and use it on him. Ade wouldn’t forgive me for killing him. He’s lucky he’s sitting in the backseat. If he weren’t, he’d already have a broken nose.

“If you want to live, Dario,” Rocco growls, “I’d shut the fuck up. Teagan is getting the best care she can. Being with Portia, Jade, and Elio while talking with Doctor Lena is what works for her. We can all see it’s helping her. So keep your fucking opinions to yourself.”

Silence descends between us all, and I’m glad that Dario’s shut the hell up. I won’t listen to the bullshit any longer. I won’t have anyone disrespect Teagan or comment on her mental health.

Arriving at the restaurant, Lorenzo, Mattia, and Diego are waiting for us.

“Boss,” Lorenzo begins, “the place has been swept and is clear. Everyone is in attendance who should be here. I’ve had questions from Pietro and Stefano. They’ve heard about the meet and have questioned why they’re not here. I placated them, telling them that it’s the top-level soldiers, but if they find out that Mattia and Diego, along with other made men are here, there’s no doubt they’ll have something more to say.”

“Leave Pietro and Stefano to me,” I say with an edge to my tone. If they have shit to say, I won’t be placating them. They could be the fuckers who have been trying to kill my wife. No, none of those cunts will be placated. Hell, if I had my way, all five of them would be taken out. None of them offer anything to the Famiglia. They’re only here because they were friends of my father’s, and even then they weren’t assets to our organization. Losing them won’t be a hinderance.

“Let’s get this show on the road,” Dario says, rubbing his hands together. He’s dying to put a bullet into someone. We’ve lost Emiliano and Raul, we could have lost Lorenzo from whomever the fuck is after Teagan, and we’re not going to lose anymore.

Rocco follows Dario into the restaurant, but I hang back. Lorenzo has that crazed look in his eye, one I know too well. He’s got information. “Tell me,” I say once we’re alone.

“Boss, I looked into the men,” he says, and I know that he’s talking about Lino, Pietro, Stefano, Diego Snr, and Santino. “Stefano and Lino were both seen the time that Raul and Emiliano were killed.”

I don’t give a fuck if they were seen. Whoever the hell is doing this has used others to do their dirty work.

“We’re going to find out which of them is behind all of this shit,” I snarl as I enter the restaurant. “I’m not waiting any longer. If I have to take out every fucking one of them, I’ll do it.”

Lorenzo nods. “I’ll have your back, boss.”

He’s one of the most loyal men we have. As Lorenzo rose through the ranks, he showed his allegiance to Rocco and me, rather than our father. It’s one of the reasons we trust him, and why he’s now my right-hand man.

“Now that everyone’s here,” Rocco says as I take a seat. “We’ve got some information on who’s behind the hit on Emiliano and for the shooting at the apartment where Lorenzo was shot. We believe they’re responsible for the death of Raul.”

Our men sit up taller. Only a handful of people know who we believe is responsible for it, the rest are now wanting to know so they can get their revenge. I keep my gaze firmly on the men, watching them, Dario, Lorenzo, Mattia, and Diego doing the same.

While we know that at least one of my father’s men are behind this, I can’t be sure that our men aren’t.

“When my father became a made man, his friends did also,” Roc says, his arms crossed over his chest as he speaks. “Those six men all received a gold signet ring with a black onyx setting, all of which have a G in the middle. Those men have worn those rings proudly and still do to this day.”

“So one of those men killed Emiliano and Raul?” Francesco asks, glancing around. “These men are ours. They’re our brothers in arms.”

“They’re betraying us,” Mattia snarls. “They’re fucking betraying our boss, our organization, and us. There’s no sympathy, no mercy for those who go against us.”

“Here here,” Alberto says, slamming his hand on the table. “Why the fuck are we sitting here and not taking them out?”

I smirk at the nods and agreements our men are giving Alberto. They agree with what I want to do. It would be easier for us if we took them all out and be done with it.

“Enough,” Rocco says, raising his voice. Silence descends on the restaurant. “We’re not taking them all out unless each and every fucking one of them are guilty. Now, as you can understand, those five men have been given other jobs to do while we figure out which of the fuckers are betraying the Famiglia.”

“So what’s the plan?” Bruno asks, his brows knitted. “You can’t expect us to sit around and wait for whoever the fuck it was to make another attempt. Who’s next? One of us? Our wives?”

Not fucking happening. I’ll take them out before they even try to come after Teagan.

“What about you, Elio?” Alberto asks. “They’ve taken out two of your men, shot a third. Hell, they would have killed your wife had you not arrived in time. What do you say about sitting around here twiddling our thumbs?”

I glare at Alberto. I’m all for telling Rocco what the fuck I think, but never will I do it in public, not in front of others who aren’t family. It’s my privilege as his brother. As someone he trusts more than anyone. I have earned that privilege, and for anyone to disrespect him, to question him in public, in front of his men, they’re taking this shit too far.

“I agree with the boss,” I say, my voice filled with anger as I glare at the fucker. “As much as we want to take out the bastards, I’m not taking out one of our own because one of his friends is betraying us.” I raise a brow as I stare Alberto down. “It would be like someone taking you out because your father was a thieving bastard.”

His jaw clenches as he nods. “You’re right. Sorry, boss,” he mumbles.
