She opened the box to reveal a square-cut solitaire diamond on a gold band. “It’s beautiful,” she breathed.
“May I?”
Amy gave him her hand. He took the ring out of the box and slipped it gently onto her finger, then wrapped his own hand around hers, holding it in place. It was a perfect fit.
“We’ll do it as soon as we can,” he said. “I can’t wait to call you my wife.”
“You can call me that right now,” she said, smiling. “I’m not going to make you wait until it’s official.”
He leaned close and kissed her temple. “Wife,” he murmured.
It made a shiver run down Amy’s spine. She was thrilled to be his. She was thrilled that he was hers. And that was the way it would be for the rest of their lives.
She pushed him down onto his back and rolled on top of him, kissing him, and it wasn’t long before the two of them were lost in each other once more.
