I snake my hand down between us and circle my clit with my finger. I’m already on the edge after a few strokes that my toes curl, and my back arches as I come.

I feel him thrust into me hard one last time before pilling free and coming on my pussy. “Fuck, I’ve never seen anything sexier in my life than your pussy covered in my cum.” His eyes heated as he looks up at me.

I smile lazily at him as he lets my panties go, and they fall back into place.

“We’d better go clean up,” I murmur, my eyes heavy as he lies down beside me and tugs me onto his chest.

“In a minute. I just want to hold you first.”

And who am I to argue with that?

CHAPTERTWENTY

Oz

Isit next to Zig, watching Salem throw my knife at the target I made for her.

“She’s getting really good at that,” he murmurs.

“I have a feeling she’s good at most things she puts her mind to,” I reply, looking over at him when he doesn’t respond. “What’s up with you, anyway? You’ve been quiet all day.”

“We’re nearly out of supplies. If we’re careful, we can stretch a few things another couple of weeks, but that’s it.”

I sigh, knowing he’s right. “So, what do we do about it? We have food and water. But toothpaste, shower gel, and toilet paper? It’s going to get really old, really fast, especially for Salem.”

“I know. I think we need to start scouting. After the snake incident, I think it would be better if we all went together. We can start small. But eventually, we’ll have to think about camping so we don’t have to double back on ourselves, or we’ll never get anywhere.”

“We should have done it before we let things run so low, but I guess we've just been so content.”

“It’s hard not to. She’s been able to let her guard down here, which she’ll never be able to do back in the real world. I don’t want to take that away from her, but we don’t have much choice anymore.”

We both sit in silence for a little while, watching Salem throw the knife before retrieving it and throwing it again. The clothes she washed earlier are all laid out on the rocks drying, ready for when we head back later.

“Our time here is coming to an end, one way or another, isn’t it?”

Zig nods. “It’s time to go back. But we have some decisions to make.”

“Apex?”

“They deserve to know we’re okay, just like Luna does. But if we go home, we put everyone at risk.”

“Shouldn’t that be their choice to make? It’s not like we’re talking about regular people here, Zig. These guys run into danger instead of away from it.”

“I know, but this is different. This will be us bringing trouble to their front door.”

“I get that. But if the tables were reversed, wouldn’t you want to be given the option?”

“Maybe,” he concedes. The stubborn bastard.

“I’m not saying it’s the answer. We can just as easily take Salem somewhere off the grid and hide. But someday someone will spot us—spot her—and there will only be you and me to keep Salem safe.”

Zig looks at me and swallows. “I want to prepare myself for that even though I’d love nothing more than to go home and take Salem with us. I think the guys would like her, butlikeisn’t enough. I need to know they’d give their lives to protect her. We can’t stay for anything less.”

I run my fingers through my hair, knowing he’s right. It’s a lot to ask—too much, really. But what choice do we have? We have to keep Salem safe. If that’s not going to happen at Apex, then we’ll take her far away.

“Alright. How about we give them a chance? These men are our brothers. We owe them that. If it’s more than they can handle, we go. Just you, me, and Salem.”

He nods his head in agreement as Salem skips over to us with a huge grin on her face. “Did you see me? I’m like a vampire slayer, minus the vampires.”
