“Who was it?” Tracker asks, furrowing his brow.

Stoney taps his fingers along the tabletop and glances around the table. “MateoQuirino.”

“What the fuck is he calling for?” I snarl, clenching my hands into fists, trying to keep my anger in check.

“Wants a meet.” Stoney straightens in his chair and leans forward. “He’s asking for a partnership in taking care of a problem we both share.”

“Hector?” Blaze questions.

“Yes.” Nodding, Stoney looks directly at me. “I’ve told him that I would take the meet, but he’s asking that you attend it as well.”

“I’ll be there,” I grind out, not liking this.

“I figured as much. He’s agreed to meet us at Dolly’s Playhouse this afternoon.” Stoney clears his throat and looks around the table once more. “Now, I know we need to figure out what’s going on with this shit, but I want to find out what Mateo has to say first.”

I don’t like it, but I get what Stoney is talking about.

“Until then, I want us all to stay vigilant. None of the ol’ ladies are to leave the clubhouse. At this meet, Tracker, Cyprus, Viper, and I will attend. When we get back, we’ll reconvene and discuss what happened,” Stoney says and glances between Tracker and Blaze. The two of them nod, and Prez clears his throat. “One thing, though, before we adjourn for the time being. Hammer, Blow, Grinder, Twister, and I had a conversation last night.” His gaze stops on Viper and then me. “We’ve decided to branch out and start another charter, and we’ve decided Viper is to be the President and Cyprus will take the VP patch. That is if you both agree.”

Holy fuck.

That’s something I never expected.

“Hold on, Prez,” Viper says gruffly. “What do you mean putting me as Prez of a new charter?Where?”

“Mississippi. And we all agree that you would be a damn good Prez. Same with Cyprus as your VP.”

“When will this happen?” I ask.

“Figure we’d give you two a couple of days to think it over. It’s a lot considering you both will have to uproot,” Stoney answers and looks down the table. “Kevlar and Aries, you both would also have the chance to join them. Kevlar as Sergeant at Arms. Aries as road captain. Twister has already asked Mace, Sabor, and Wolf to join.”

Shit. This is real, and it seems Stoney and the others have thought this through. Taking the seat as VP for a charter means a new start. Not only for Bride and me, but also Noelle. It’s something we could all use. There’s no thinking on it on my part.

“I’m in,” I speak up, straightening.

“Same,” Kevlar states.

“Me too,” Aries grunts.

Viper looks around the table for a brief moment and nods. “Long as Jade agrees, I’ll be honored to be Prez of the Mississippi Charter.”

CHAPTER20

NOELLE

“So, how are you doing?” Rachel asks, setting a coffee mug in front of me.

I give her an appreciative smile and lift the mug to my lips. Ambrosia. “I’m okay,” I answer, setting the cup in front of me, keeping my hands around the warmth of it to keep the chill away. I’ve always struggled with keeping my hands and feet warm. It can be the middle of the hottest day and my feet and hands will be chilled.

“Just okay?” Harlow glances in our direction while helping Bride scoop cookie dough onto a baking sheet.

“Are any of us just okay?” Victoria snorts and looks at me. “Come on, tell us what’s on you’re mind. We’re all family here.”

“She’s right,” Rachel adds. “You can talk to us. If we didn’t talk to each other, I think we’d all go insane.”

“You got that right,” Raven snickers. “Talk about a looney bin if there were any.” Refocusing her gaze on me, she smiles, “We have to talk to each other about everything and be there when we need to talk, if not, we’d all be going crazy.”

“Who’s going crazy?” another woman asks, joining us.
