“Jade, this is Noelle. Noelle, this is Jade. She’s Viper’s ol’ lady,” Rachel introduces us.
The other woman smiles brightly and raises a hand. “Nice to meet you.”
“You too.” I greet her in return and look back to the others. “I really am okay. I get it’s a lot, but it’s my life. I’ve had no other choice but to live with the dark for so long. I guess you can say I’m used to what I’m feeling.”
“I so get that,” Jade remarks, coming to sit near me. “I was blind for a while, and it took me a while to get used to the fact I can see again. To adjust to everything around me. If not for Viper and the rest of these women and men around here, I might have lost my mind.”
I smile, nodding. Thankfully, the women changed the subject and started talking about what Twister and Horse were doing here. Rachel explained Horse came to pick up Luca and Corrine. The two of them were going to spend a week with him and his ol’ lady, Kenny, to hang out with his kids. Twister evidently came along for the ride and to talk with Stoney in person. He’d also heard about me and figured he’d offer a helping hand.
Throughout the next couple of hours, I spend it listening to the other women, sometimes putting in comments here and there. I also enjoy looking after Bride, seeing how much fun she’s having. I can definitely see she feels comfortable in the kitchen. She has all of us laughing when the music starts up and she starts dancing around. It has me wondering if maybe Cyprus should put her in dance. Then again, she could just be dancing around for fun.
We all move to the main room of the clubhouse at some point, and I notice the other women leering at us.
“Don’t mind them,” Victoria murmurs and walks behind the bar where another woman is working. She says something quietly to her, and the other woman nods. I believe they said her name was Valentine, and she’s not like the other women. Watching her now, I can see that.
“So, you’re the flavor of the month.”
I turn to face the woman behind the voice and find it’s one of the clubwhores.
“Excuse me?” I furrow my brow, confused by why she’s calling me a flavor of the month.
“You heard me,” she says, eyeing me up and down. “I’m Daisy, one of Cyprus’s go-tos, so don’t get too comfortable in that bed. He’s mine, and there’s no way I’m letting some bitch like you steal him away.”
“What are you talking about?” I know Cyprus. Well, the guy he used to be, at least, and I want to think he hasn’t changed all that much. He’s not the type to play women.
“Are you stupid or something?” Daisy sneers, stepping into my space. “I said Cyprus is mine. His dick. His body. All of him.”
“You can’t claim someone is yours unless they want it,” I retort, not liking that this woman is treating Cyprus like he’s a piece of property. I also have thoughts of just how well she might know Cyprus, and it twists my stomach. “Please move away from me. If you have a problem, take it up with Cyprus.”
“I’m taking it up with you, bitch,” Daisy snaps and shoves me back a step. “Stay away from him. In fact, go back to where you came from.” Shoving me again, I teeter back before regaining my footing.
“What are you doing, Daisy?” Rachel demands, making her way toward us.
“I’m simply making my place known with this bitch,” Daisy answers.
“Yeah? And what’s that?”
I glance over at Rachel to find her glaring daggers at Daisy.
“You know Cyprus is mine.”
I return my attention to Daisy and wish I didn’t because she takes the chance to snag me by my hair and wrench me forward. “Let me go.”
“No,” Daisy says maliciously. “Not until you say you’ll leave and stay away from Cyprus.”
“I will not say that.” I cry out when she slaps me and yanks harder on my hair, making it feel like she’s ripping it out by the roots.
“Do it,” she screams.
“I suggest you let her go.”
The sound of a gun being cocked stalls Daisy along with the voice attached to it.
I’m surprised to find not just Victoria standing there holding a gun on Daisy but also Harlow and Raven.
Oh my God.
“You won’t kill me,” Daisy snickers.
