“Okay,” she whispers sleepily and looks around the room. “Can I sleep in the playroom?”

“That’s fine,” Rachel answers. She looks at me and explains, “Normally, when the kids are all here, they have a sleepover in the playroom.”

“I’ll get her sorted,” Amaya announces, holding a hand out for Bride, her gaze also on me. “You look ready to pass out yourself.”

“No, I’m okay.” I wrap my arms around myself and give them all a small smile. “All things considering, I want to wait up and find out what’s going on.”

“They’ll be back soon as they can,” Victoria says, standing with Jamie still in her arms. She slides him down and picks up her other son. “It’s best to try and rest while you can. If what happened today was any indication, it’s only the beginning.”

“While I was outside earlier, the winds spoke of nothing but peace for you,” Raven murmurs, speaking to Victoria. “At least for the time being. Perrin will have moved on when he finds out that both Lily and Lorena failed him. I do think we should send her to Chains’s club, though.”

“Agreed. Perrin will think she’s still here. Sending her down to Chains and the others would be the best bet. But I don’t want them to have to deal with this problem.” Victoria furrows her brow and shakes her head.

“The problem still lies ahead of them. On the winds, I hear words of letting things end where they began.”

I stare between the two women, confused by what they’re talking about. Winds? Chains’s club? Perrin? Where it began? What do the mean?

As if hearing my thoughts, Raven turns to face me. “I have a unique gift and learned to listen instead of ignoring it. All the women in my family have some form of it.”

“Oh, okay.” I nod, still confused.

Before she can say anything else, we’re interrupted by a commotion outside. Then the doors are thrown open and standing in the doorway is my worst nightmare.

CHAPTER23

CYPRUS

“So, let me get this straight. You want to align with us?” Stoney remarks, staring across the table at the man sitting across from us, MateoQuirino.

He’s the very same man known for being deadly and vicious. It makes me question why this man would want us to align with him.

“Yes, this is what I’m suggesting. Hector has been getting out of line as of late. I’m not thrilled with him, and honestly, I value my life. I refuse to allow someputato take me out like the coward he is.”

“How do you know he’s planning to take you out?” I ask.

Mateo’s gaze comes to mine, and he stares at me, assessing. “Noelle is your woman, correct?”

I stiffen and feel my anger grow at the mention of Noelle. “How do you know my woman?”

“I’ve only recently learned of her,” Mateo answers and raises a hand, waving for someone to join the group. “You see, I’m taking great interest in this whole scenario after learning about her. But not just her. Someone is to pay for what happened to her brother years ago.”

“Why are you so interested in Noelle?” Stoney’s tone changes, sharpening, going on alert.

A man I recognize steps forward, and I jump out of my seat and start to reach for my gun.

“What the fuck is Hector’s right-hand man doing here?” I snarl, demanding answers.

“Cyprus,” Stoney warns.

“It’s all right,” Ernesto says to Stoney and steps forward. “I’ve been working for Hector to find out what he’s doing. I gained his trust so that I might find out what he’s up to for my cousin here.”

“Your cousin?” Viper speaks up, placing a hand on my shoulder.

Nodding at the unspoken order, I retake my seat. Viper might not yet be a president, but knowing that he will take the title of the new charter, as his VP, I’ll listen to him.

“How about you stop pussyfooting around and tell us everything,” Tracker snarls. He’s already on edge after the bullshit with Lorena, and we still have to deal with her.

Blaze, Shadow, Coyote, and a few others were still at the clubhouse dealing with Lorena. Stoney ended up telling Whip, Venom, Neo, and Cane to follow and stick close in case this all went down badly. Twister and Horse were helping Ranger out with Valentine. Not something they would normally do, but with our club needing to be focused, they’re chipping in where they can.
