ETHAN

Dear Daisy,

I’m sorry I had to work late last night. I’ll make it up to you tonight.

“DAISY!”

As I slammed the front door closed, Daisy skidded out of my room in nothing but my tattered, vintage band t-shirt. And fuck, she looked beautiful. Long silky legs, a bob of disheveled blonde hair, and rosy cheeks—thejust-fuckedkind.

I shook off my desire as my anger resurfaced. “You told me it was over with him!”

She flinched. “It…it is.”

“Then what the hell is this?!” I could feel the stems breaking in my fist as I held out the bunch of daisies I’d found laying at our front door when I let the cat out.

Daisy’s brow furrowed as she inched toward them and pulled out the card. Her jaw grew taut as she read each word. “Ethan…”

“You lied to me!” I shoved the flowers into her hands before marching back to my room and tearing open my closet.

The flowers fell to the floor as she scrambled after me. “I didn’t lie!”

I turned to her, drinking in her azure eyes, desperately wanting to believe her.

“It is over.” Her gaze faltered. “He just doesn’t know it yet.”

I dropped my shaking head. “Oh, Daise…”

“Don’t 'Oh, Daise'me!” Her spark ignited. “I’m not a fucking teenager!”

I yanked a t-shirt over my bare chest and threw my duffel bag onto the bed. “Well, you’re fucking acting like one.”

Her hands grasped her delectable hips. “Says the twenty-six-year-old man who thinks he’s living in a frat house.”

My head snapped to hers. “I may sleep around some, but at least I’m not a cheater.”

“You actually have to be in a relationship for that.” Daisy snorted. “So, that’ll never be a problem.”

I shoved more clothes into my bag, punching the bed underneath. “Why would I want a girlfriend when I have you busting my balls every day?”

She folded her arms, unintentionally lifting the hem of the t-shirt to reveal the curve of her ass. “No one’s forcing you to live here, Ethan.”

I ran my gaze up her forbidden body. “It was convenient for you last night, though, wasn’t it?”

She drew a short breath before taking a step back. “Last night was clearly a mistake.”

“And this morning?” I sniggered.

Daisy threw up her hands before storming out of the room. “God, you’re infuriating!”

“I’m infuriating?!” I grabbed my bag and followed. “You’ve been driving me crazy since the day I moved into this house!”

Daisy whirled around and poked my chest. “Yet, you choose to stay. Why is that, Ethan?”
