“You’ve led a sheltered life, Daisy.” Ethan shook his head. “You have no idea what’s out there.”

I glared at the man who’d hurt me more than anyone else. “Then I’ll have to learn the hard way, because I’m sick of not living.”

“Daise…” Flynn’s gaze tempered as he stepped toward me, but I maintained my distance.

“Just have fun at the basketball game,” I uttered before escaping to the bathroom and bursting into tears.

“Ugh, you got a mint?” I turned to Flynn, shifting my body away from the woman sitting beside me at the basketball stadium.

Flynn laughed as he searched his pockets. “Here.” He popped one into my hand. “Caught you by surprise, huh?”

“You could say that,” I said, rolling the mint through my mouth.

Flynn leaned forward to capture a glimpse of the woman who had just mauled me in front of the camera man. “She’s smoking hot.”

“She’s not my type.”

“She’s everyone’s type.”

“Want to swap seats?”

“Ha, no thanks.” Flynn folded his arms as he refocused on the game. “I’m steering clear of women.”

“Same,” I muttered.Except one.

While attempting to relax back into the game after the assault on my mouth, the ditzy socialite erupted into giggles as she held her phone up to her friend. “I told you it would go viral.”

I peeked around her long, straight, dark hair and spied the kiss-cam footage on repeat.Fuck.Daisy was going to lose her shit if she saw that. I’d been testing her and pushing boundaries, but I didn’t want this. The only lips I wanted on mine were hers, and if by some miracle, she felt the same way, this was going to push her even further away.

The woman with collagen-infused lips turned to me. “What’s your name?” Her whitened smile widened. “Everyone’s asking.”

“Mike,” I uttered without hesitation.

“Mike what?”

A smirk played on my lips. “Hunt.”

Flynn’s hand flew to his mouth to stop the beer from spraying out.

“Thanks.” She giggled again as she tapped the words into her phone. “Want to hang out later?”

“No.”

Her head recoiled. “Are you joking?”

“No.”

“Ugh, whatever.” Her hair smacked my face as she spun around to whisper to her friend.

Flynn nudged my shoulder. “That was cold.”

I shrugged, imagining the ice that laid ahead for me at home. Would Daisy be hurt?Fuck. I never wanted to hurt her. But the next thought crushed me even more. What if she didn’t care?

Maybe she only slept with me to get back at Vance. Maybe I meant nothing to her. Intrusive thoughts ricocheted through my head as the basketball bounced up and down the court, until I was so wound up I neglected to cheer when the Lakers scored.
