“I don’t.” He threw the daisy into the water. “And I’m not family.”

The sky turned dark as the ominous clouds rolled over. “Yeah,” I huffed out on my way back to the cabin. “You made sure of that.”

With a growl, he was on his feet, marching after me as the first drops of rain dented the dry earth. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

I swiveled in the dirt and crossed my arms. The thunder above echoed my temper. “Mom and Dad wanted to adopt you, and you refused.”

The rain grew heavier as he stepped closer. “That wasn’t because I didn’t want them.”

“Then why?” I blinked back tears, remembering how much it had hurt them. “They loved you so much.”

“I know…” Ethan grasped the sides of my arms. “I just…” His green eyes searched mine. “I didn’t want you as a sister.”

“Whoa!” I shoved him away. “Thanks a lot.” I continued to the cabin, wiping the tear-infused rain from my cheeks.

“No, Daisy!” his voice bellowed over the crack of lightning in the distance. “Because that would be incestuous as fuck.”

Electricity surged through my veins like I was the one hit. “What?!” I spun around as his large frame shadowed mine.

“Why do you think I came after you last night?”

“I don’t know,” I cried. “To mess with me some more?”

Ethan’s gaze penetrated my soul. “I’m not messing with you, Daisy.”

“You sleep with a different woman every night. What makes me any different?”

“Because you’ve been untouchable since the day we met.” He pushed the wet strands of my hair behind my ear before dragging his thumb down my cheek.

“And now?” My voice was barely audible under the raging sky.

He cupped my face into his palm before backing me into the cabin wall. “Now I can’t keep my hands off you.”

With one last gasp, Ethan’s lips were on mine, kissing me with wild force. He was like a starved animal, and I willingly submitted. I wanted him to devour me. I wanted him to take everything he needed…everythingIdesired.

His tongue maneuvered down my neck while his hands toyed with the straps of my bikini until it fell to the muddy ground. His mouth wrapped around my left breast, making my head tip back to the summer rain with an enduring moan, only to amplify when he engulfed the other.

With my back against the log wall and my legs curled around his waist, he licked and sucked while his hardness pressed against my ass, begging to be released from his soaked shorts.

“We better go inside,” I uttered between breaths as another strike of lightning rattled the earth. “Before we get electrocuted.”

With a softer, more controlled kiss, he eased my feet back to the ground. “Come on,” he said, scooping up my hand and pulling me inside.

Our mouths fell as the door swung open. Waterfalls had sprouted from the ceiling, soaking every corner of the living room.

“Oh, shit!” Ethan lunged for the kitchen cupboard and pulled out a bucket, soaking himself as he angled it under the worst leak.

I glanced around the cabin and laughed. “We’re going to need more buckets.”

Ethan followed my gaze and frowned. “Fuck.”

“I’ll grab some towels.” I slipped on my summer dress and raced into the bathroom. Thankfully, it was leak free, but the two bedrooms I passed on the way there weren’t. The freshly made beds were now drenched, and I hadn’t brought any extra sheets.

“Can you check the hallway closet for more buckets,” Ethan yelled out as I laid towels on the beds in an attempt to absorb the falling water. “I’m going to start a fire to dry this place out.”

“On it!” I shouted back as another clap of thunder shook the cabin.

Adrenaline overtook my fear as I rummaged through the closet and found a few more buckets. I positioned them around the living room while Ethan arranged the kindling in the fireplace, followed by large pieces of wood.
