Smudge scampered off the beautifully styled king-sized bed, right before Ethan dropped me onto it. “Finally,” he uttered with that gorgeous smile that turned my insides to goo.

I took his hand and kissed the tiny daisy permanently inked inside the compass on his wrist. “Finally.”

Ethan’s tongue traced his lips while his eyes trailed over my silk-covered body. “How the hell am I supposed to get you out of that dress?”

“There are buttons.” I motioned to the back of my wedding dress. “Lotsof buttons.”

He loosened his collar a little more than I’d achieved on the drive home. “If it didn’t look so damn beautiful on you, I’d tear it off,” he said, rubbing his jaw as he analyzed my intricate gown. “I guess I’ll just have to take my time.”

“I mean…” I inched the silk up my legs. “There are ways around this predicament.”

His eyes drew to my parting thighs. “I like where this is heading.”

I smirked. “I know you do.”

With a mischievous grin, Ethan crawled over me as I shifted up the bed until my head landed on a fluffy sea of pillows. Smiling heavenward as he slid the silk over my spreading legs, I found myself staring up at a newly hung canvas above the bed.

“What the…?” I dodged Ethan’s lips as I slipped out from his hold and whirled around to the large painting.

He kissed my shoulder before resting his chin on it. “It’s your wedding present.”

Tears filled my eyes. “It’s perfection.” The blues and greens swirled together in a wave-like formation, creating movement and peace in perfect synergy.

“I think so too.”

I prodded his side. “Since when are you happy with your own work?”

“Well, technically, I wasn’t the only artist.”

“You collaborated?” I frowned. “But you never collaborate.”

“I made an exception for this piece.”

“Who was the other artist?” I asked, feeling an unusual pang of jealousy. We had no secrets now.

He nudged me back. “It was you.”

“But I’ve never painted…” Heat burst into my cheeks. “Ethan. Is this the canvas we hooked up on?”

“Yep.” He gazed over it adoringly. “And it’s a fucking masterpiece.”

“Oh, my God. You kept it?”

“Of course I did. It’s our best work.”

“It definitely is beautiful,” I said, leaning back onto Ethan’s chest as he wrapped his arms around me.

His lips grazed my neck. “It won’t be the last beautiful thing we create.”

I chuckled. “We’ve only been married a few hours, and you’re already talking kids?!”

“I want to fill this house with love, Daise. Just like your parents did.”

“Me too,” I said, twirling my mother’s engagement ring around my finger. Flynn had given her rings to Ethan after he asked him for his permission to marry me.Not that he needed it.“Maybe we could foster some too.”

“You would do that?” he asked, turning my face to the emotion swirling behind his.

I nodded spiritedly. “We could help so many kids.”
