Oliver came out, Logan following behind. They piled into the backseat, and I felt an immediate wave of relief as soon as the door closed.

I looked up into the rearview mirror and froze. There were two men in the back of the car. One was Oliver, but the other…wasn’t Logan.

I whipped my head back and gaped at them. “Where’s Logan?” I demanded.

Oliver’s eyes were heavy from the alcohol. “Logan’s staying behind. We don’t need to wait for him.”

“Who is this?”

The guy beside Oliver had his arm thrown over his shoulders and was leaning against him, his legs spread wide. He tilted his head and smirked at me, and I was ready to throttle the guy. “I’m his friend.”

Oliver just nodded. “He’s coming back to my place,” he said as if it were obvious. “Take us back.”

The bad feeling wouldn’t go away. “This isn’t like you.”

He shook his head. “I said take us back, Ben. Your job is to drive so drive; stop talking so much.”

The other guy snickered. Fuck. This was bothering me, and it didn’t help that Oliver was right. I did my job and drove off, but I left the privacy screen down.

We barely made it a block before the guy started sucking on Oliver’s neck and trailing his hands over his chest.

I slammed on the brakes. “Get the fuck out,” I yelled, startling them both.

“What the hell are you doing?” Oliver demanded, his anger breaking through his drunken stupor.

“I said get out,” I snarled, jabbing my finger at the guy. “Get the fuck out of this car.”

“Fuck you,” the guy kicked the back of the seat. “Your ass isn’t worth this shit,” he spat, slamming the door behind him.

“What the fuck, Ben?” Oliver looked like he was in shock, and he probably was. “You aren’t in charge of me.”

I started driving, heading back towards his apartment. There were so many feelings inside me I felt like I was pulsing. “What were you going to do?” I asked though I didn’t want to know the answer. “Were you going to fuck him? Let him fuck you?”

Oliver crossed his arms. “It’s none of your business.”

“None of my business? Since when are you gay?”

“Since when are you a homophobe?”

I shook my head, pressing harder on the gas. I didn’t trust myself to say anything else, so I kept my mouth shut. Oliver was sulking in the back, so he didn’t say anything else either.

It was nearly 1 in the morning and I drove like a maniac. Maybe I was, but I got us back to his apartment, fast. Usually, I stop in front of the building. Not this time.

“Where are we going?” Oliver asked when I drove past the doors.

I kept silent and pulled into the tenant’s parking garage. Oliver kept two parking spots there, one for his personal vehicle, and one for this one. We didn’t pass a soul as I pulled into the open space, and I doubted we would see anyone this late.

It took no time for me to turn off the car, get out, and climb into the backseat. Oliver’s eyes went wide as I got in beside him, and I realized they were damp with tears. Shit. I hadn’t meant to make him cry.

I rubbed my hands over my face as he scooted away from me. “What, you going to kill me?” he asked.

“Are you gay?”

He looked down at his shoes. It took a while for him to answer. “No.”

Something sharp twisted in my chest, though it was the answer I had expected. “Then what were you doing with him?”

Another pause. “I was curious.”
