“Those two need to have sex and get it over with already,” Wolf mutters.

“What?” My head whips toward him as my brows shoot up. There’s no way I heard him correctly.

He raises a dark brow as if daring me to argue. “They need to sleep together so they can get each other out of their systems. Their constant bickering was cute at first. Now, it’s just annoying.”

Carina and Ford?

No way. He’s totally misreading the situation.

I shake my head in disagreement. “That’s not what’s going on.”

Wolf smirks. “Seriously? With them, all this arguing and taking shots at each other is foreplay. Enough already. Let’s get to the main event so we can all move on with our lives.”

My mouth falls open as I flick a glance at Madden to get his take on the matter.

He jerks his shoulders before nodding. “I have to agree with Westerville on this one, little McKinnon.”

I’m so shocked that I don’t even take offense to thelittle McKinnoncomment.

It’s with fresh eyes that I turn my attention back to Carina and Ford. He’s standing entirely too close, invading her personal space, and her face is all flushed. Only now do I realize how much sexual energy is buzzing in the air between them.

Well, I’ll be damned.

Maybe Wolf and Madden are right.

Maybe them getting it on isexactlywhat needs to happen.

Then peace can once again reign in the kingdom.

CHAPTER6

RYDER

By the time I shower, change, and get the hell out of the athletic center, my mood has improved.

Somewhat.

Maybe Ford is right, and I just need to chill out for the night. Have a couple of drinks and find a girl to take my mind off the situation. Everything inside me loosens as I tip the beer bottle to my lips and take a long swig.

As I do, my gaze wanders over the packed room before getting snagged by Larsa Middleton. The moment our eyes lock, she lifts her hand in a wave. As soon as I reciprocate the greeting with a chin lift, she breaks away from the group of girls she’s standing with before cutting a direct path to me.

Larsa isn’t a girl who likes to play games. And that I can appreciate.

Her wide green eyes remain locked on mine as she weaves through the sea of students who are crammed into the first floor of the house.

“Hey, Ryder,” she purrs.

“Hey, yourself. How’s it going?” I take another drink.

The blonde presses her palms against my chest before slowly stroking them upward. “Much better now that I’ve found you.”

I’ve known Larsa since freshman year. Every once in a while, we have a few classes together. From what I’ve seen, she’s a smart little cookie with a weakness for hockey players. Preferably the ones who get lots of ice time.

Know what I like best about Larsa?

She understands that a couple hours spent rolling around between the sheets is exactly that. There’s nothing worse than screwing someone and the moment you pull out, they want to know when they can see you again. Extracting yourself from those situations can be tricky. Sometimes you get an object chucked at your head. Other times, there’s water works.

So…yeah.
