I flick narrowed eyes at Wolf. He’s someone I consider a good friend. If I thought for one damn second that he’d lay hands on her, I’d fucking rip him apart.
And I wouldn’t even feel bad about it.
Christ.
This is the last thing I need.
I drag a hand down my face.
“Ryder, baby. I’m horny.” That last word comes out sounding more likehooooornnnney.
I force my gaze away from Juliette to stare at the hottie in my arms.
Shit.
That’s when I realize the mind-blowing sex I’d been anticipating is no longer on the agenda. In a last-ditch effort to salvage my plans, I glance around for Mav. There’s no way he’d be good with his sister at a hockey party looking like that. Juliette might be a year older, but he’s protective.
Unfortunately, he’s nowhere to be found.
Figures.
“I’m, ah, sorry. There’s something I need to take care of, but maybe later?”
Her eyes go from heavy-lidded and full of promise to wide and filled with disbelief in less than two seconds flat.
“Are you being serious?”
By the displeasure that fills her voice, later will not be an option.
For me, anyway.
“Yeah, I am. Sorry about that.”
“You’re missing out,” she snaps, untangling herself from me.
Don’t I know it. I’d been looking forward to all the little tricks she’s got up her sleeve. The girl is like a one-woman circus act with stunts that are meant to shock and awe.
And, well, make you come.
I shrug.
Once she realizes that my decision is final, she swings around and stalks away. With the hot blonde forgotten, I refocus on Juliette. My brows snap together when I find that Wolf has disappeared.
In his place is none other than Garret Akeman.
Garret fucking Akeman.
And that, my friends, is all the incentive I need to haul ass.

JULIETTE
“How about a shot?” the muscular hockey player asks.
“No, I’m kind of a lightweight. I’ll probably just stick to beer.”
He steps a bit closer and amps up the wattage of his smile. “All the more reason to have a couple. Let’s get you loose.”
