So, he wasn’t here. I wasn’t worried about him standing me up. We’d already touched base several times this morning. It was just that he sounded on edge. I’d asked him about it, and he said it was nothing. Funny how I could pick up on the so-called nothing.

I hope it’s not because of me.

“I’ll wait here if you don’t mind,” I said to the pilot. Sitting inside waiting for Declan wasn’t going to help relax me.

He made two trips with my bags and then stayed inside the jet. I stood there just waiting for another vehicle to arrive. Finally, one did. As it pulled up to the jet, two men got out.

I wasn’t sure what to think as one made his way towards me. “I didn’t know you were joining us, Draven,” I said.

“I’m not.”

Looking around I asked, “Is Declan coming?”

“Yes. He sent me to retrieve your car.”

That made sense. Kind of. “Who is bringing him?” I asked.

“A driver from the resort. I think you really should be in the jet waiting for him,” Draven stated. “No one knows that you are leaving with him. Not that your leaving Tabiq is an issue, but he didn’t want any...gossip about you leaving with him.”

He was watching out for my reputation? That was sweet. Not needed, but very sweet. “He does know that I’m way beyond legal age and I can do what I want, right?”

Draven chuckled. “I agree with the guy.”

I rolled my eyes. “Of course, you do. Should I ask if you have told anyone about my leaving?”

“If you mean Damien or MaKayla, the answer is no. I figured it would be best if it came from you. I’m sure I’ll hear all about it, though. I’d love to be in the room when you call,” he smiled.

“Is there a reason why you enjoy this?” I asked, not having a clue as to what was so funny about all of this. All I wanted to do was leave Tabiq. Everyone seemed to be making it as though I was being smuggled out of the country.Or like I’m a teenager sneaking out of the house without my parents' permission. Ridiculous.

“Yeah. It keeps life interesting. And watching how two Prada women have thrown my brother off his game is just great. Guess that’s why I like helping Declan. He’s having just as much fun.”

I wasn’t sure what he meant by that. Was he trying to say that dealing with a Prada woman is challenging? Granted we are strong and stubborn, but not difficult.

I’ll give you difficult.

“There are times I think you have all lost your mind. First, you’re all paranoid that someone was out to get me, and now you are making it seem that my leaving Tabiq is so much more interesting than it is. People come and go from here all the time,” I said.

“Then why haven’t you called MaKayla?” he asked as we headed into the jet.

I turned and shot him a warning. “I’ve been busy.” He smirked, and I sighed.Guess we Prada women are difficult.

Once inside, I took a seat by the window where I would be able to see Declan when he finally decided to arrive. But since this was a private jet, that too at an airport that had very little air traffic, it wasn’t as though we were under any time constraints. I looked at Draven and said, “You don’t need to stand there. I’m obviously not going anywhere, at least not until Declan arrives.”

He had a look on his face as though there was a lot on his mind. Instead of getting off the plane he sat down and sighed. “Venus, can I be straight with you?”

“Have you been anything else but that?”

Draven shook his head and said, “Declan said this was your idea. I just want to make sure you don’t feel pressured at all to leave with him. I mean, I like the guy, and don’t get the creep vibe from him, but I’ll...”

“I want to go. I asked him to take me,” I cut in. “Heisa good man.”He’ll never hurt me.It’s something I learned the first time we were on his boat. If I hadn’t seen the kindness in his eyes, I never would’ve gotten on his boat with my baby. Yes, I had been filled with fear, but that wasn’t ever because of him.

“Then call your daughter before she hears it from someone else. I know Declan is trying to make it so that no one knows you’re leaving together but let's be real. Not much goes unnoticed here.”

“You’re telling me. I mean, I have more people watching me now than I think I did when I actually needed them years ago.”Ironic how things happen. Another vehicle was approaching, and I said, “I hope this is Declan.”

Draven looked out the window and said, “It is. I guess this is goodbye.”

“No. You’re family now. I’m sure I’ll be seeing plenty of you when I come to visit in New York,” I reminded him.
